Considering the word homosexual has only been a part of our vernacular since 1865, does the Bible really address this supposed sin?

I know you will quote Leviticus...but, we throw away the old testament as it relates to dietary laws, the fact that you shouldn't wear a cloth of more than one fiber, and that you shouldn't eat certain meats....so, it should be thrown away as it relates to homosexuality. Sodom and Gomorrah was about inhospitality and gang rape...not about committed consensual gay couples.

As far as what the Apostle Paul writes about..men lying with men, etc...do you really think the Apostle Paul knew of any committed homosexual monogamous couples?

Isn't the writings about homosexuality, more about the customs, knowledge and prejudices of the day? Wasn't it important to marry a woman to further your protection, wealth, and procreate....therefore, that's what the writers put in the Bible?

Does the Bible address a loving, monogamous homosexual couple?

Does the superior intelligence of the Ashkenazi Jews prove God exists? It can't be a coincidence that they have won such a disproportionate share of nobel prizes and have the highest iq of any ethnic group. Maybe hey are blessed by God.

Someone posted a question about being part of a church that saves. Most answers were of the like of "A church cannot save you. Only Jesus can save you."

The Catholic Church is the Body of Christ with Jesus Christ as it's head. The Holy Spirit guides and gives life to the catholic Church. The Catholic Church saves because God acts through the Catholic Church and Jesus Christ, the Son of God, saves.

If you say that your church does not save, are you saying that Jesus Christ is not a part of your church?

Received this in answer to an earlier question of mine:

"Thank you for answering my question and making plainly obviously your position as an agent against Christ and not for the betterment of anyone."
"kicking the dust off my feet on the way out of the island that is Orion"

Now I would identify myself as an "agent against" christian hypocrisy, not Christ. And it is interesting that a christian cannot tell the difference between the two (is this an example of someone using Jesus as a 'human shield').

But what was most telling was the fact I was dismissed once it became clear to said christian that she was not going to convert me.

Apparently, that was her only interest in me.

Now, I have christian friends who did not dismiss me because I was unconvertable. So I know this is not a universal trait. But I am wondering how prevalent that attitude is amongst christians.

Are we humans to love, or converts to win over?

As most of you know the Jehovahs Witness and Mormon cults are the ones mainly responsible for reporting answers or questions to Yahoo. Whenever you say anything about them that they don't like or that exposes them they will report you. If you teach a true Christain doctrine that goes against there doctrine they will report you.
Do you think this is there way of trying to attack and prevent the truth from getting to people?

How about a church/pastor/religion who called the divorced and remarried people an abomination?

How about a church/pastor/religion that said that anyone who filed bankruptcy or defaulted on a student loan was a degenerate?

So, why do you tolerate a church/pastor/religion that uses such names to describe the supposed "sin" of homosexuality?

From a literal interpretation of the Bible, those who do not turn from their sin of adultery/divorce by being celibate, obesity/glutton by losing weight, or stealing/bankruptcy by repaying the debt, will not inherit the kingdom of God. Just as fundies say, homosexuals who do not turn will not go to heaven.

So, why do you tolerate such hateful words and actions towards homosexuals by the fundamentalists...degenrate, abomination, scum of the earth...but, would not tolerate such language in relation to other suppsed "sinners"?

Serious question,

There are no soteriological statements pro or con rather gays and the Kingdom of God in the Methodist doctrine. Presently, other than ordination and marriage, United Methodism is non-judgmental and inclusive.

How about your denomination, are you welcoming of all people without prejudcie or judgment?

David Vitter is one of the most conservative members of congress...he called "a ban on gay marriage the most important issue in the country today." and "co-sponsored legislation to federally finance abstinence-only education"

He is married with children...However, has utiilized the services of a prostitute.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/thenation/200707...

So, fundies...let me get this straight...gay is wrong...but, prostitution is o.k....as long as it is not a gay prostitute?

It seems to me you guys spout your rhetoric from your mouth get caught...and then simply say you are sorry, that you screwed up...and then everyone acts like it never happened...

You are truly a bunch of hypocrites...The Bible says more about hypocrites than it does about homosexuality or most other sins...so, why aren't you fundies railing against the sin of hypocrisy? Why aren't you cleaning your own homes...instead throwing stones at others?

When you become a born again christian, do you lose certain parts of your memory? More specifically, the parts that have to do with the harm you caused others? Or is it that you feel completely forgiven so there is no need to revisit those things even if it would help a person you hurt to heal? I only ask because the person who molested me as a child is a born again christian and it seems they have no recolection of the things they did. They continue to send me letters telling me how much they love me and how much the Lord loves them! I would really like to know if this is a common occurance. Please help me to understand this better so I can quit taking it to heart and allowing it to hurt me! Thanks.

If your answer is "nothing", wouldn't the saying "Nobody is blinder than he who will not see" apply to you?

e.g. What would it mean to you IF Jesus' grave was discovered, with irrefutable evidence that he didn't go to Heaven as the Bible says?
