Received this in answer to an earlier question of mine:

"Thank you for answering my question and making plainly obviously your position as an agent against Christ and not for the betterment of anyone."
"kicking the dust off my feet on the way out of the island that is Orion"

Now I would identify myself as an "agent against" christian hypocrisy, not Christ. And it is interesting that a christian cannot tell the difference between the two (is this an example of someone using Jesus as a 'human shield').

But what was most telling was the fact I was dismissed once it became clear to said christian that she was not going to convert me.

Apparently, that was her only interest in me.

Now, I have christian friends who did not dismiss me because I was unconvertable. So I know this is not a universal trait. But I am wondering how prevalent that attitude is amongst christians.

Are we humans to love, or converts to win over?

Dear Orion,

Since I am the one who answered the question the way I did, I feel it is only fitting that I offer rebuttle to your assumptions.

My line of questions in answering you over the past few days was not to exactly convert you persay...but rather asking you for clarification on your "real" position. "Saving" you is not my place.

Your line of questioning was predominately pejorative, asking Christians about their behavior. (If you had bothered to read my other answers, you would have seen that I am staunchly against Christians not practicing what Jesus taught and for their not remembering that Jesus was sent to the world not to condemn it but save it.)

My primary questions were directed in that since you are so adept at identifying what Christian behavior should NOT be, would you be willing to stand up and show what one should be?? (You know...setting and example...building a better mouse trap??)

My secondary questions were asking if your position was that to make people "better" Christians or if you were against Christ? Directly following *this* particular line of questioning your next inquiries (4 to be exact) were pointed at Jesus in the temple. ((Using a logical mind - what would one infer?? That it was ...trying to find fault with Jesus)).

Interestingly enough, when I wrote the post you mention above, your next 2 questions were asking if "we can't all agree there are truths in the Holy books" and talking about "if we combine the 3 major religions wouldn't it be a better way" (paraphrased of course)

You also indicated that you lost your wife, whom you love very much, and I can relate to being angry against that. I can relate to being disappointed that Christians do not more often show their love.

My responses to you were not rude. And were broached from a position of desiring understanding as to whether it was "people" behavior or Christ of which you disapproved.

Perhaps I made an error in judgment with assuming that your questions directly turned to Christ after I asked this. For that I apologize. Perhaps I made an error in judgment with assuming that your questions directly turned to "agreeing with one another" after I posted this reply to you. For that I am sorry.

It was not my intent to injure your pride. I have not dismissed you as an individual. The "kicking of dust off my feet" was saying that I would not attempt any longer to discover your real position because from the line of questioning it appeared to me you made yourself clear.
