There are no soteriological statements pro or con rather gays and the Kingdom of God in the Methodist doctrine. Presently, other than ordination and marriage, United Methodism is non-judgmental and inclusive.

How about your denomination, are you welcoming of all people without prejudcie or judgment?

Every four years, hundreds of delegates from Methodist
conferences all round the U.S. gather and fight about the issue of
homosexuality. For the last 12 years the vote has been stuck at 66% for maintaining
the prohibition against the ordination of gays as well as the blessing
of same gender unions while 33% are for deleting all prohibitive
negative language. As a result of this stalemate, what we end up with in our
Book of Disciple in a schizoid "point/counterpoint" statement that
initially states that homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching
and then is followed by the statement that gays are persons of
infinite worth and the church should be open to persons regardless of sexual
orientation. That's what you get when you try to do "one size fits all."

Your thoughts?

Certainly. Don't go by what man says but what godly standards are. This way you do not go wrong and cannot produce something based on your own mistaken opinion that is not based on true Bible facts and scripture. Here you go: 1 Corinthians 6: 9 - 10 What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. Leviticus 18:22 “‘And you must not lie down with a male the same as you lie down with a woman. It is a detestable thing." Romans 1: 26 - 27 That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error. Romans 1: 32 Although these know full well the righteous decree of God, that those practicing such things are deserving of death, they not only keep on doing them but also consent with those practicing them. Timothy 1: 9 - 10 in the knowledge of this fact, that law is promulgated, not for a righteous man, but for persons lawless and unruly, ungodly and sinners, lacking loving-kindness, and profane, murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, manslayers, fornicators, men who lie with males, kidnappers, liars, false swearers, and whatever other thing is in opposition to the healthful teaching. Hope this has helped. Don't twist the facts ever, you know?

The Bible makes statements about homosexual lifestyle. Christians / Denominations need only quote it. For church leadership to be living in sin (engulfed in sin) is detrimental to the spiritual growth of the church. But all people are sinners and are welcome to services. I am a member of the church of Christ. We have no conference or national meeting so I cannot speak for all members. But I am familiar with many congregations and I believe this would be an acceptable statement for most members.

Why would they need a denomination statement seeing as the Bible already contains such a statement. And not only with regards to gays, but also to drunkards and covetous and the like.

""Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1Cor 6:9,10

"The light exposes th..." in his/her comment above reviles all gay people by saying, "Gays have no morals or are influenced by demonic forces." As a Christian gay man, I find this completely offensive and based on nothing but pure prejudice. The Bible also says that revilers will not inherit the Kingdom of God, thus sadly, "The light" is self-condemned by his/her own comments. May God forgive him/her.

God said stone them in the old testiment. In the new testiment we are told that the Homosexuals is marked out for destruction because of there conduct. Gays have no morals or are influenced by demonic forces. Thus they are no holy and should not be allowed to teach or preach. As preachers and teachers are a reflection of God. Thus they indeed are unfit to stand before man as a reflection of God.
