Someone posted a question about being part of a church that saves. Most answers were of the like of "A church cannot save you. Only Jesus can save you."
The Catholic Church is the Body of Christ with Jesus Christ as it's head. The Holy Spirit guides and gives life to the catholic Church. The Catholic Church saves because God acts through the Catholic Church and Jesus Christ, the Son of God, saves.
If you say that your church does not save, are you saying that Jesus Christ is not a part of your church?

Deacon,
The Church knows that she is joined in many ways to the baptized who are honored by the name of Christian, but do not profess the Catholic faith in its entirety or have not preserved unity or communion under the successor of Peter." Those "who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church."

wbusykat, when we talk about Church, you are talking about Jesus Christ and the community of believers which make up the Body of Christ. If you try to exclude Jesus Christ from "the Church", you no longer have a church

He is head of the Church, i.e all genuine believers. Many catholics are genuine believers, many protestant church-goers and others are as well. He is the true vine. He is the good shepherd. Undershepherds such as Paul, Peter and so on would be the first to recognise his lordship over them.
Many Popes have been good or wise and effective for Christ's saving cause. But many non-catholics have been good, wise and effective for Christ's cause. E.g. consider the Wesleys or Smith Wigglesworth. There's some areas that non-catholics have handled better than catholics (e.g. the healing ministry in the last century), and some where catholics have handled things better than non-catholics. So I wouldn't want to say that the only real church is the catholic one. God uses people in the other denominations just as much.

The first Pope was James the Just, the brother of Jesus. All orthodox churches have based their belief on this indisputable fact since the formation of christianity. In contrast, the completely ficticious religion of Roman Catholicism created its own claim to being first some 400+ years after the fact, by claiming St. Peter was the first Pope and that Popes existed in Rome, even during the time of persecution! Now if this isn't proof enough that The Vatican has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus, has no credibility and says and does whatever it takes to remain in power, then the 19th Century decree that the Pope is infallible should be a clear resounding beacon. By the decree, the Popes in effect made themselves Gods, deities on earth, above all human law and all humans. Not even Jesus claimed himself infallible! So this is why it is so hard to get a straight answer out of Catholics and why it remains such a powerful religion. As the pagans once knew, having a living human being as your god, which you can see and worship is much more powerful than praying to some inanimate object.

Amen brother! What a great question.
Yes, the Catholic Church IS the Body of Christ. And so of course Jesus is the head of His Church.

Jesus is the head of my church. We believe that the only way to be saved is by accepting Christ, the Atonement and His teachings. That means that you follow His laws and pattern your life after His. We have no formal ceremony to Save people, it is just done individually by how you live your life and your faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation can only come from Jesus, no one else.

The Church as an institution does not save you. It is the atoning blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ that saves you when you believe in Him. Make sure that Christ is truly the authority in your life and not the Catholic church.

I'm trying to sort out your question and come up with a good answer-----I think of a church as a group of people (who believe the same thing). And I don't think a human being can save another human being's soul. That's God's department. How's that?
