David Vitter is one of the most conservative members of congress...he called "a ban on gay marriage the most important issue in the country today." and "co-sponsored legislation to federally finance abstinence-only education"

He is married with children...However, has utiilized the services of a prostitute.

So, fundies...let me get this straight...gay is wrong...but, prostitution is o.k....as long as it is not a gay prostitute?

It seems to me you guys spout your rhetoric from your mouth get caught...and then simply say you are sorry, that you screwed up...and then everyone acts like it never happened...

You are truly a bunch of hypocrites...The Bible says more about hypocrites than it does about homosexuality or most other sins...so, why aren't you fundies railing against the sin of hypocrisy? Why aren't you cleaning your own homes...instead throwing stones at others?

Now, now remember "hate the hypocrisy, love the hypocrite".
I laughed out loud when I heard that. I now know that anytime someone comes out that strongly against gay marriage they are either secretly gay or visiting prostitutes.
This is what they really mean by sanctity of marriage
1. 50% divorce rate
2. up to 50% of wives having affairs
3. up to 70% of husbands having affairs
Now do you really think gays could do a better job at marriage? Yeah, me too.
FIREBALL- One mistake from one representative? I don't think so.
Bob Barr, Republican Congressman from Georgia. Sponsored the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act, saying "The flames of hedonism, the flames of narcissism, the flames of self-centered morality are licking at the very foundation of our society, the family unit." Was married three times. Paid for his second wife's abortion (she also suspected he was cheating on her). Failed to pay child support to the children of his first two wives and while married to his third and present wife was photographed licking whipped cream off of strippers at his inaugural party.
Robert Bauman, Republican congressman and anti-gay activist, was charged with having sex with a 16-year-old boy he picked up at a gay bar.
Parker J. Bena, Republican activist and Bush Elector, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography (including children as young as 3 years old) on his home computer and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison and fined $18,000.
Louis Beres, chairman of the Christian Coalition of Oregon. 3 of his family members accuse him of molesting them when they were pre-teens.
Mike Bowers Former State Attorney General, prosecuted the famous Bowers vs. Hardwick case, based on Georgia anti-sodomy laws. Admitted to a 10-year adulterous affair.
Neil Bush, brother or G. W. Bush, in a March 2003 divorce deposition, admitted repeatedly having sex with strange women who just showed up at his room while on an Asian business trip.
John Paulk, lied about prowling for gay sex while running a fundamentalist group to cure gays.

Your point is valid but your example is just as prejudicial as the other side of the coin. No sexual sin is okay. Heterosexual promiscuity as well as homosexual promiscuity are both wrong. The only acceptable relationship is man and wife, legally married. Chastity before marriage and fidelity after marriage. Vitter, if he did what he is claimed to have done, is indeed a hypocrit as are many others who say one thing and yet do another. They are like unto the Pharisees of old whom Christ declared were as whited sepuchres, white on the outside but full of dead man's bones on the inside. They were told to first cleanse the inner vessel and then shall the whole vessel be clean.
For your information, there are people out here who do uphold proper values of virtue and chastity. Many falter and if they exercise diligence to change their ways, confess and repent, then forgiveness is available and they can still become clean. Let's hope that is the case.

Not only that, but Vitter clearly stateted that when he did cheat on his wife, he did it legally !

Legally. Since when is hiring an escort service to provide prostitutes (plural), legal? I guess he doesn't have time to watch COPS on TV because they are always arresting "Johns" that do the same.

Isn't it ironic that he and his Republican party shout so loudly about law and order, and traditional family values?

Hypocrisy in the extreme. I certainly hope the fundaMENTALists pray for him next Sunday, and clean out their own closets before they go condemning other peoples closets (no pun intended)..

Catholics have always noted the tendency of fundies to hypocrisy. Not that it's unknown with us,it's just a part being human. But that extreme self-righteousness breeds it,we think.

NICE! You forget to tell them that you too are a Christian....

The guy is the quintessential hypocrite - using prostitution services while married, and wanting to deny rights to others based upon their perceived sexually immoral behavior? What a piece of shyte he is.

I dont know who is worse - him, or the guy from Florida who was caught offering an undercover cop $20 to give the cop oral... That guy was working on a bill to give stiffer penalities to prostitutes...then was trying to be one himself!!!

Biblical, you should only have sex inside the marriage. That means with no other partners and a marriage is between a man and a woman. Not many of us adhere to that rule, and if you have sinned, don't cast stones.

Beyond electing the sleaze, I don't blame fundies for this at all. I blame an opportunistic politician who proves yet again that you can get elected if you simply tell them what they want to hear.

What's wrong with prostitution anyway?

He's a typical polititian. They don't really believe in anything but just say what they think will get them reelected so they can continue to ride the gravy train. Its the same with both parties. Its all BS.

He's a politician. The always spew views that are conservative and then walk hand in hand with the "devil".
They are hypocrites pushing an agenda that goes with the majority or whatever pays them.
Its no longer about the welfare of the people and teaching our youth to be safe.
