Have you heard the entire process that would have been involved during the crucifixion? This is going to be pretty graphic, but I think you need to read it.
Allow me to break it down for you:
Starting the night before, Jesus was under such stress that he developed a condition known as hematidrosis. Read what hematidrosis DOES here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematidrosis
Basically, hematidrosis makes a person's skin VERY sensitive.
So then, Jesus was arrested. He probably spent the next few hours with no food, and no drink. I don't believe it was customary to feed prisoners.
Then He was whipped thirty-nine times. Now, the whips that were used then were NOT ordinary whips. They usually resembled a cat-o-nine tails, but with pieces of metal and glass sewn into the ends. The first lash probably tore His entire back open, and I'm sure it hit His rear end and the backs of His thighs as well. Maybe it even looped around and hit Him in the stomach. What it would have looked like was somebody putting an electric cheese-grater on HIGH and raking it all over His back. Could you imagine?
And THEN He had a crown of thorns-which were probably more like briars; they might have been nearly six inches long-JAMMED onto His head. They didn't just place it gently on His head. The Romans had some of the most barbaric methods of inflicting pain, and inflicting pain was what they were trying to do.
Then, He was made to walk, bearing His cross (which probably had splinters in it) on His shredded back, under a hot sun. And the cross usually weighed at least 75 pounds, sometimes closer to 100.
But we're not done yet. THEN He had nails POUNDED into His ankles and feet. These nails were probably at least six inches long, maybe closer to a foot. And they probably had to HAMMER them into place. Each and every fall of the hammer probably broke another bone. Most of the bones in a person's ankles and wrists were PULVERIZED, nearly into dust. If you've ever broken a bone, imagine how much it would hurt to break at least a dozen. At once.
Do you honestly think that even the strongest man in the world could have survived that? HONESTLY?
On top of that, what was described when He was pierced is the fluid that comes out when a person is dead. He was absolutely 100% dead. If He hadn't been, they would have broken His legs so that He would die faster.
I don't think a person would have been walking around after that.

That's called docetism and it has a very interesting place in the history of the early church.
I, too, don't believe Jesus died on a cross. I believe that story is a rewrite of Old Testament stories, especially Psalms 22 (look it up). I am not even convinced there was a person named Jesus and that he is based on Old Testament figures, Cynic philosophers, dying/rising gods of contemporary mystery religions, and Simon bar-Kochba.
As far as the India connection goes, there was a supposed manuscript found by a Western explorer, but the temple he "found" it in claims to have never had any such scroll in its possession, and, moreover, the explorer had never been there. It seems to be just another story.
Oh, and a note to STEPHEN J: the heart is not encased in water. Learn some basic anatomy please.

There was a prophecy about Jesus, that His legs wouldn't be broken. After someone had been hanging there a while, they might break their legs to speed up their deaths, when they went to Jesus, they found He was already dead, so they didn't break His legs, fulfilling that prophecy. When Pilate found out He was dead, he ordered his men to make sure, and they ran a spear in his side. The Bible records that blood and water flowed out. The heart is encased in water to help protect it from shock, so when blood and water flowed out, it meant they'd pierced the heart.
If He somehow wasn't dead before that, He was dead very soon after. In addition, how does a guy who's been beaten, crucified, and wrapped in a hundred pounds of spices and linens unwrap Himself and move a stone that is said to have taken several ppl to put in place. And then He had to fight off the guards, c'mon, that's even wilder than His resurrection.

ur kidding me right?
no he didnt die on the cross. he was born into everlasting life. when he came back and brought the Holy Spirit to the apostles, he told them to go and not be afraid to spread the word. They were then able to speak their native tongue to others who did not speak their language. they also were able to hear other languages as if it were their native tongue.
the reason there are his teachings in india is because when the apostles disbanded, thomas went to india to spread the word.
Get your head out of your A $ $ wake up, and smell the salvation.

I don't. The Romans weren't that stupid (that isn't an attack on you, I don't think you are stupid). They waited to make sure that the person was dead. Had Jesus' followers taken him off the cross while alive they would have been crucified as well. If Jesus was still alive his blood wouldn't have separated within him (you know the part in the bible where they speared him in the side).
Anyway, what did he do in India? Was there snake charming involved? lol

Jesus suffered, but not on a cross, he died on a stake! He was dead and than God resurrected him to life but heavenly life not earthly life because he died for our sins so he finished his earthly life and now he is ruling in heaven with God waiting to bring on the destruction of wicked mankind.

never thought about it like that before, but you could start your own religion based on that belief. It wouldn't be the first time. As a matter of fact, that's what different religions are all about, details. Good luck with that. (just don't let anyone call you a cult, that's the kiss of death in religion)
To answer your question, no. I am old school Sunday School. Faith makes me happy.

I have my doubts...
First off, none of the gospels can even agfree as to where he was "buried" or entombed. One of them describes it as being in the garden of joseph of arimathea, who was a family friend of Jesus... Now, in those days, NO ONE was taken down off the cross - you were left to rot as an example. Jesus was taken down. It typically took DAYS to die from exposure on the cross, and the Romans often would place a sponge soaked in vinegar under the nose of a prisoner who had passed out, so as to revive him and make him experience more pain. However, when they did this to Jesus, he had the exact opposite reaction that any other human has - he promptly "died". Now, there was a known drug called Belladonna in his time, that would give someone the appearance of being dead, by lowering heart rate and breathing to shallow levels... Then, we read how Joseph is observed entering the tomb, carrying herbs that were tranditionally associated with healing, not with embalming a dead person. Finally, to the jews, nothing was more unclean than a dead body - yet supposedly, we are to beleive that they kept the "death shroud" that covered Jesus when he died (shroud of Turin) - and the fact that the Jews wrapped the dead bodied tightly, they did not simply drape a piece of cloth over them, as the Shroud would suggest.
So, yes, I doubt it too.

Yep. If Jesus showed up a few days later that means somebody took him down off the cross.
This was not unusual for the times. Many crucified people were taken down from the crosses. Crucifiction was rarely a death sentence.

Poppycock. Balderdash. The only other person who believed Jesus did not die on the cross was the author of "The Passover Plot" who believed the entire affair was designed by Jesus who was administered a drug which caused him to appear dead. I read it many years ago. It was so far out in its twisting of events and creating possibilities that it should have been sold from the fantasy section of bookstores and not the religion section. On what do you base such a belief? It is utter nonsense.
