I am a big fan of Sven hassel but I have found in some of his books things that are(were) not quite real.
For example in the book "The bloody road to death" ( I think), he said that , when on a mission to capture an ex-german( now soviet) comisar his group encountered 4 tanks, or so he says.2 of them were BA-64 and one a Humber MK 2.
He said they are tanks when in fact all these 3 were by no means tanks, but armored cars.
Also he said in some of his books that the Sd.Kfz. 234/2 "Puma" was a tank when, in fact was one of the most powerful armored cars in WW2.
He says his regiment was a penal regiment, yet there was a 27th regiment in the German Army, but it was not penal.
He also says they were equiped with Tigers, when these heavy tanks were scarce and were organized in special batalions, directly under Corps command and is impossible to think that they were given to any penal formation.
Now I have read all his books, and I know many of his books are more fiction that reallity.

Atheists don't believe in supernatural beings, notably gods. And that is all. We believe in a wild variety of other things, depending on the atheist in question (you had noticed we are not a heterogeneous group, right?).

Maybe you are confused with the nihilist philosophy? (the denial of all real existence or the possibility of an objective basis for truth)

I don't really mind, but every other post you are making yourself look stupid.

I am not trying to stir you up, just a simple question. In my 40 some years, I have lost a lot of loved ones. My mom, all my grandparents, even my very best friend. Losing these people hurt greatly, but at what seemed to be a point of despair, especially when I lost my best friend about 4 months ago, The peace of my Lord came and I could instantly feel his presence as he lifted me up, and assured me that we would indeed be together again. I am a Christian, and this has happened on many occasion, but only when I knew that the one who had passed was indeed a true Christian, not just in word, but someone who had indeed trusted their life, and heart to Christ as their personal savior. My question is this, I do not fear death. I don’t want to die, not yet anyway, but when the time comes, I believe that I will “awake” in the presence of my Lord and Savior, and eventually I will be reunited with those I loved who have passed before me. What I would like to know, is how do you deal with your belief, when you lose a close loved one. How do you accept you belief that you will NEVER, EVER, see, speak, or love that person again? Does that not leave a great void in your life, especially if that loss is a child of yours, how do you cope with that? If I live in a delusional world, when I die I will not even know it, but If you are wrong, and you find your self separated forever not only from God, but from everyone that you ever cared for, what then?

Besides...if pre-marital sex really was that forbidden for all Christians... then does that mean that thousands of years ago, before the Bible was even writen and before Christ was even born...
the thousands of people committing such "sin", not knowing that it was a sin in the first place...is that "counted" as a sin?

Says one pastor, "...gambling is sin, when evaluated in light of God's Word. The church of Jesus Christ must condemn gambling."

Is it because anything fun has traditionally been considered a sin?

I am not talking about Wikipedia's summaries, or summaries found online, nor do I want quotes from the New Testament.

I want your own personal summary of the New Testament.

Isn't that a rather crude way of getting rid of undesirables?

Why not just turn all the bad guys into pillars of salt, like he did to Lot's wife for the terrible crime of looking over her shoulder?

Instead, Noah's got to build a dirty great big boat, with only enough room for two of everything, allowing the rest of the animals to get wiped out along with the people.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to just smite the baddies?

Dosn't it make God look somewhat inefficient?

I have known various people to claim that Adam and Eve were the first people on this earth, but the Bible says otherwise...

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them...

(and it continues on to vs.31)..
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day..

(then later on) in Gen 2:2-3 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made..

Now here is the kicker!
In Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
God later names him "Adam" in Gen 2:19.

This shows that there was man created on the 6th day, then God rested on the 7th, then created Adam after the rest.

I am not trying to get into a heated debate, I just want to get some feedback

aren't most of our responses to various actions predetermined? we're a product of our environment or some crap like that. lol.

so, when we make choices, couldn't it be said that most of of those choices are already based on a behavioral trait we picked up from someone else much earlier on in life?

everything is everyone else's fault. lol.

what I'm leading up to is, how can god send people to hell just because he gave us this free will? clearly, much, if not all of free will is compromised.

I'm not attempting to be rude to your beliefs, I'm asking a serious question. Is there some reason why you would even want to be in a religious debate? As far as what I knew atheists don't believe in any form of higher being. That would be agnostic.

So what is it? Curiosity? Or are you driven by some force to get people to switch to believe in nothingness? Is there an underlying problem in the atheistic world view when it comes to others believing in God? Please be respectful.

Kelly Tripplehorn on his youtube video stated that no atheist scientist can assume that the events of the past should govern the future. It's apparently called 'the problem of induction'. He states however that because God told him that he made the universe uniformly in his 'word' the Bible he can make this assumption and therefore all Scientists should be Christians. I can identify several can you expose more weaknesses in his argument?

My study of hell is taking me to unusual places. Other than the fact that it is used a lot in the KJV it as an interesting etymology. Let me just cut a little snippet for you:

O.E. hel, helle
...a death aspect of the three-fold goddess. Transfer of a pagan concept and word to a Christian idiom, used in the K.J.V. for O.T. Heb. Sheol, N.T. Gk. Hades, Gehenna.

A death aspect of the three-fold goddess? Now that's interesting. What's a pagan concept doing being used in an improper context in the christian bible?

Could it be that we have the wrong idea of hell afterall? Is it a place of eternal tormnet a "winnowing" process?

I've started a study and so far it not's looking good for the traditional doctrine.

I've been blogging this stuff on my 360 page if you are interested in joining me on my journey to hell.

What do you think?
