So i am no longer LDS. I was raised in the church but have realized that it is not the right religion for me. However my entire family has stayed strong to the faith and i can easily see why. While i was browsing the web tonight i saw people opinions on the church and how they are not Christians and how they are a cult. And honestly it brought me to tears. It made me bawl. People starting criticizing a religion and saying we will all go to hell when they do not understand. How are they a cult? They think different from you. They have high morals and values. Since when did that condemn you to hell? Just it tears me up to see so many people bashing on a religion that has never done anything but try to help others. And all because they believe the gossip, the hype. They spend a whole life hating on things about the religion that are not even true. I'm not quite sure what the point of this was but opinions?

You try to explain things and most of the people that answer don't believe you and make rude comments or are disrespectful

Have you not got a heart when answering a question on Religion, do you have to make snide remarks and say untruthful things, what fun do you get out of it?

This is only for the people who are rude and disrepectful, not everyone fits in that catergory

Old Testament; Deuteronomy 21:23 tells that, "His body (any crucified person) shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day, (for he that is hanged is accursed of God), that thy land be not defiled, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance". Jesus (peace be upon him), such a pious prophet, can never be cursed - for any reason. You see logic of God, there was no need to write this sentence in a heavenly book, He (God) just mentioned for His future plan. And even after His mentioning it long before, we devised the idea of atonement. For which he never knew and never mentioned. And He (Jesus) being the only Son of God was not aware of God's plan to sacrifice. And He was in agony and praying to God, it is not sacrifice just murder even if a person believes this event. And sacrifice for Adam's original sin and salvation looks strange when we read the bible itself telling him a son of God.

Have you researched other religions?
Have you researched sun-god worship related to the rebirth of the sun at the winter solstice?

I seriously would like to know... If you haven't I want to encourage all Christians to do so.

Shri Shankracharya spread the philosophy of Advait Vedanta... which basically means there is only supreme consciousness (Brahmm).. and rest is illusion..and he defeated all major schools of thoughts in India on Advaita Vedanta

On the other hand he wrote Saundrya Lahiri...a great book on praise of Mother Goddess..

Is it Not a paradox ? or can someone explain why he contradicted his own philosophy by accepting Mother Goddess... (and thus refuting Advaita )

Thanks in advance for replying

''best answer'' goes to the person who can give me the lyrics to the chorus and AT LEAST one complete verse of this classic song. if several people have one verse, the answerer with the most lyrics (the real ones, not the ones you make up), the song title, and the name of the man who sang it will win. take a break from all the bickering for a while, guys.

10. She is giving away all her canning jars.
9. Suddenly her children wear clothes purchased from a "real" store.
8. Her friend says "did you go to the thing tonight" referring to the huge Relief Society Birthday dinner and she says "what thing?"...
7. She doesn't even notice that the January Ensign is late, and says she forgot to renew it (yeah, that's the ticket!)
6. Finds out the day before that her new visiting teaching assignment has actually been the new RS president for weeks.
5. Doesn't come home for an hour after the ward meeting is over on Sunday, but is all dressed up.
4. Gives back her Eric Dowdle Temple puzzle after 4 months and it's still shrink wrapped.
3. Her legs are shaved and tan above the knee...oh my gosh, is she wearing real shorts!
2. She is giving Pepsi One cans to the local scouts to recycle.
1. That dang smile...What does she know that I don't know?

i have been doing some readin and i want to better understand my religion (christianity). and so i have a question... is jesus related to david through a bloodline? it appears that they are not blood related b/c joseph is related to david. but then i "heard" that mary was also related to david but i couldnt find any biblical proof. and one more thing... where in the bible does it specifically state that the messiah will be a decendent of david. b/c i was looking in the book of isaiah and isaiah prophesizes (sorry not really a word) about how "He will reign on David's throne and his kingdom" but it doesnt say anything about be a decendent of david.... or did i just miss it?

so basically.....

does jesus have a blood relationship with david whether it be through mary or joseph? please give some biblical proof.

and where in the bible does it say that the messiah decend from david?

thanks for the help. just trying to better understand.

It is clearly written in the bible that 2 of each specie were put onto Noah's ark. If the bible is true, and inspired by God, then each and every specie must've been put onto the boat. This includes sharks, whales, and even dinosaurs. But it would not be possible for most marine animals to survive on Noah's ark. Now, before answering, keep in mind that you can't make assumptions that doesn't correspond with the bible, "2 of EACH specie was put onto Noah's ark". The marine animals would have survived the flood anyway, but why would God put them on the boat then? Additionally, how could humans and animals alike survive against all the carnivores on the boat? How would people be able to survive against all those dinosaurs?

I spend the vast majority of my life NOT thinking about sexual practices that I find disgusting. Why is it so hard for certain religious people to do the same.

If two consenting adults get involved in sexual practices that you aren't down with, why not just ignore it? Where is the harm in minding your own business?

What about the claim that the gays will "make" other people gay? Where's that come from? Are some people fighting against urges that they don't want to admit to? Are they projecting when they say, "So and so is trying to corrupt other people"

I'm not Catholic Bashing or anything but in all seriousness I've seen more people protest Gay Marriage and Abortion rather then against the Sexual Abuse committed by the priesthood in my many years...

I don't think it'd be as much of a problem as it is today if people shed some more light on it and if the Catholic Church showed a lil more humility rather then save face and try to avoid the issue altogether...

I believe the only way to heaven is to be a Christian, yet I am sadden by the thought that two thirds of the world's population is not Christian. Hell is a horrible place and I do not wish it upon anyone. Why are these people so blind as to not accept Jesus as their savior? I know for a fact they can feel him in their hearts, yet they refuse to believe? Why are they so full of pride?

I want everyone to go to heaven. I do not wish anything bad to happen to anyone but the fact remains that it will if they do not change their ways.

Why won't they listen to reason?

Ok, hear me out...Even if you don't believe in God or Jesus, you have to agree that at the very least the New Testament is a moral guide to how a "good" person is supposed to live their lives. With that said, if everyone were to follow the teachings in the New Testament (even if they didn't believe the story is true, but accepted the philosophy as correct) wouldn't the world be a better place for everyone? Why are we arguing about whether it's truth when it's pretty apparent that there is a good moral sense behind the teachings. Shouldn't the question of whether the stories are fiction or non fiction be irrelevant? What's your opinion?

What is the first thing everyone did when they left a high control group such as the JW's or any other religious group that put rules and restrictions on it's members? If you are thinking of leaving religion what do you dream of doing? ie: Getting drunk as a skunk. Doing it with a random person in public or maybe your on a mission to save everyone from the clutches of religious groups? Maybe it is just as simple as sleeping in on a Sunday morning? What did you enjoy the most?

Personally I enjoyed listening to what ever music I want without having to worry about the lyrics!
