So i am no longer LDS. I was raised in the church but have realized that it is not the right religion for me. However my entire family has stayed strong to the faith and i can easily see why. While i was browsing the web tonight i saw people opinions on the church and how they are not Christians and how they are a cult. And honestly it brought me to tears. It made me bawl. People starting criticizing a religion and saying we will all go to hell when they do not understand. How are they a cult? They think different from you. They have high morals and values. Since when did that condemn you to hell? Just it tears me up to see so many people bashing on a religion that has never done anything but try to help others. And all because they believe the gossip, the hype. They spend a whole life hating on things about the religion that are not even true. I'm not quite sure what the point of this was but opinions?

Since there is no god, no heaven, no hell, you shouldn't worry about people saying you or others would go to hell. If you study the history of religions you will find that they all started out as a cult. And these cults have ridiculous beliefs. Some cults, such as Christianity have turned into major religions. The off shoots of Christianity are called either a religion (positive) or a cult (negative). LDS is so different from the majority of Christan religions that in many cases it is called a cult. Many Christians and Muslims have hatred toward other religions and nonbelievers. The atheists just want to show you the error of your ways.

Dear friend,

Mormonism has grown too large to be a cult. This doesn't mean that once a religion hits a particular size, it automatically becomes a normative religion. What it means is that once a religion gets too big, it's impossible to squelch all debate. Even if everyone on the outside doesn't see it, it's there.

However, if Mormons have the right to base their existence on the idea that all previous forms of Christianity represent the result of an apostasy, it seems only fair for the rest of the normative Christian community to lay down that the LDS are heretical.

The truth is that the LDS church does teach vastly different things from mainstream Christianity. God the Father does not have a physical body in mainstream Christianity. God is a trinity. He does not live in the vicinity of Kolob. You don't see baptism for the dead. You don't see temples or sealing. You don't see salvation by grace followed by a set of ordinances. You don't see kosher laws replaced by the Word of Wisdom. You don't see teachings that humanity are to progress into some type of godhood status where the godhood is inherent and independent within them (as opposed to dependent upon Christ's presence within).

Quit your crying. Quit your melodrama. Every time a missionary knocks on a door, it's a slap in the face of someone's belief system, because it says that belief system is insufficient in the eyes of your church.

There are some, who also say a belief in the Easter bunny condemns one to hell.

Guess people just pick their battles, and the LDS church seems to be a hot button right now.

You might be unable to separate mormonism from mormons. It's difficult, but I've been in your place. My personal opinion is that too much light is shown on the happy side of the church, and not nearly enough on the absurdities of the doctrine.

And if it weren't for the complete lack of charisma of Gordon Hinckely, the church falls into every category of the definition of 'cult'. The word "Culture" is based on that word too, and I've lived in 'mormon Culture'.

It's easier for people to make fun of things they don't understand. Most don't have the guts to find out the truth and rely on other's to do their thinking for them.

Even I didnt know that our God exists even though I was born in a christian family. But I use to talk to Him to help me out when in trouble. And I received help not instantly, but on time.
So I know anyone who heart is broken, God will answer. You must also have known there is a deciever who tells lies about God and who enjoys people when they come to hell. To keep away from Him, we need God, our Creator.

Here's how I firmly know that our God exists,

First, why do you care what other people think?
Second, why must I understand LDS if I don't want to?

I wouldn't take other peoples opinions to heart. Let people believe what they want. It won't change you life at all.
