Don`t you realised it is a BIG SIN?

After all the lectures Jesus gave on love and forgiveness and turning the other cheek:

- does he nicely ask the merchants to leave?
- does he preach a sermon on the evil they were supposedly doing?

Not according to Matthew 21:12

"And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,"

Only after all of this does he say anything.

So if a church is holding a bingo night in the basement, a Jesus walks in, kicks all the people out and overturns the tables, this would be cool with you, would it?

No warning. No request. No effort to explain anything before action is taken.

Just walk in, chase people out and overturn tables?

I'm sorry, but the "live & let live" attitude really bugs me.

It's only because of people who have risen above this that so called "Intelligent Design" is NOT being taught in schools as a substitute to evolution, or at least I hope it's not.

Fundamentalists use people's "live & let live" cop out as an opportunity to get in their and evangelise to those who are vulnerable.

They thrive on it!

Fundamentalists lobby governments and business groups while others pretend nothing's happening.

Unless EVERYONE takes a strong stand on what they believe in, these guys will always end up with more influence than they deserve.

Why are so many prepared to let the fundamentalists stake a claim to representing their beliefs?

In Matthew 21:12 Jesus drives out the merchants from the temple.

He damages or destroys private property. He assaults or threatens assault against the merchants.

These were crimes in those days.

Why wasn't Jesus arrested for this? If not by the Jews, then by the Romans?

Why didn't any of these merchants sue him, or call for guards?

He is never called to account for this by the local authorities or those injured.

The "chief priests and scribes" say nothing about it three verses later (Matt 21:15), nor the next time he entered the temple (Matt 21:23).

It is as if the event never happened, for all the attention anyone else paid to it.

Explain?

What are the implications for the protestant movement. Its pretty arrogany to proclaim that for 1600 years people were lost until the reformation.

I mean you have to be pretty hard headed to go with that.

As I said serious question it would be useful to get a learned response instead of the usual immature "christian" dribble.

Here's some facts about the Bible followed by a follow-up question:

- God did not directly write the Bible

- God "divinely inspired" men to write the Bible

- Men are fallible (capable of committing errors)

So, since Jesus Christ was "God in the flesh" why didn't he just write the whole Bible while he was here, to ensure accuracy? Why leave it to the chance that men would make errors in it?

I dont understand how you believe that the wine literally turns into blood. And do not correct me, I asked a priest, and he said Catholics believe the wine actually turns into Jesus' blood, that it is no longer wine. Well, I have to say...It IS wine at the end of the day. Like, you can drink it and become drunk for proof. Also, the church sounds so much like a cult...listen...
1) You are baptised welcomed into the church
2) the leader of the church wears a special gown
3) You eat your gods flesh and his blood.
4) you all prey to your leader
5) that priest reads from an anciant book, you all answer the same thing at the same time

Does this all sound a bit...I dont know...Wierd to you? Or can you honestly say God who is a humble man, wants this? If God is perfect, he would be humble, a humble man would not insist on such cult like antics.

All other translations have realized that the use of "Kill" is not only translationally wrong- it introduces an obvious contradiction as God had in the O.T. sponsored wars against populations that were totally given over to evil. Why doesn't the KJV fix the clear and obvious translational error?

If you have given money to the church in the past few years, guess where it has gone? No, it's not helping the poor or starving. Instead it is in the hands of people who were abused by preists. Millions of dollars collected over the years by the church have gone to perverted preists to pay restitution to the people they abused over the years. So the next time they pass the seemingly charitable basket arounnd to collect money from the people, remember where your money is going. It's going to keep perverted priests out of jail.

What is the Christian response to Jewish claims that Jesus does not fit the description of the Messiah from the Old Testiment, that the temple was not restored when Jesus walked the earth, that the world was not at peace, that words from the Bible were purposefully changed or missinterpreted to fit Jesus as the messianic description etc?

It dosn't really matter if we're talking christian or muslim here.

Both, in their fundamentalist state, demonstrate a severe lack of tolerance.

There may be more fear of muslim fundamentalism right now, but that's because there are more areas where they are in control right now than fundamentalist christians.

The fundamentalist christians may have GW in the White House, but I don't believe they've ever controlled congress (thank goodness!!!).

The Taliban's carnage in Afghanistan gave the world a glimpse of how horrific fundamentalism can be , aside from the various terrorist activities, the biggest issue is the lack of tolerance of minorities.

Sharia law is incredibly extreme, but if fundamentalist christians held control, would they gradually slip into the same pattern?

History shows us terrible christian acts like witch burnings and inquisitions. Would they be repeated given the chance?

Would fundamentalist christians more or less tolerant of minorities?
