Just curious. As a practicing witch, I've not really picked up on the talk behind our backs.

C'mon, be honest.
But please don't witness to me about Jesus. I'm a former Catholic and I'm fed up with it. Thanks.

Or are you the type that seeks to decipher Him the best way you can?

I noticed there are individuals who just surrender( e.g. " it's God's plan", "He alone knows what's best for us") and instead being challenged to seek answers.

Note: Either way, there's nothing wrong about it. Smile.

Firstly, Buddha never actually intended to establish a new religion. Many people wrongly assume that Buddha rejected Hinduism and wanted to establish a new path because Hinduism was false. This is a completely inaccurate version of History. When Buddha was alive, Hindu people were very spiritually corrupted. For example, they would do good deeds and dharma but only so that they could have good rewards in subsequent lives. Lord Buddha wanted to correct this attitude. Lord Buddha was of the persuasion that the Hindus were forgetting that the purpose of life was “moksha” (nirvana) and it was not to earn “good karma”. He wanted to remind Hindus of this purpose of life. The only reason that Buddhism actually became a separate religion was because Buddhists (followers of Buddha) chose to establish their social, cultural and political identity independent of mainstream Hindus. That does not mean that Buddhism itself should be viewed as a separate religion. Afterall, Hinduism...

My daughter and son in law recently started to attend a church that has asked them to be baptised in order to continue to attend. I was horrified and told my daughter that baptism was a sacred vow between herself and God and should be from the heart and taken very seriously. I felt it was extremely inappropriate to be told to get baptised. I am not Baptist, is this common? Seems almost cultlike to me. What do you think?

I really don't want this question to sound ignorant, so please forgive me if it does

Does the Koran say anything about war, killing, and things like this? Are there any rules that are specifically against killing. (similar to the 10 commandments (Thou shalt not kill)).

If so, than why do terrorists justify their actions with religion. They say they do it for God, but what if God clearly forbade it...

so, once again, i don't want this question to be offensive and i would appreciate if the answers didn't include anything like that either.

Well, I have 2 friends who are in Demolay and have asked me to join and i am christian, and was wondering what demolay is. For a moment in time i had asked my parents for me to join but they didn't let because for some reason you get brainwashed into what they do and follow what they follow. I mean i believe in God, is demolay something against it? To me it looks like an organization where you just make friends and have fun because i mean that where my friends point of view comes from. tell me is it bad or good? what is it? and please dont paste info from the site cause i have already seen them.

Well... the Catholics will say Mary, but these are all attributes of Jesus given in the Bible (and none of these are given to Mary).

Kind of scary, this goddess worship of theirs.

a previous question got me thinking....
ok I know you guys don't believe in any type of God
thats cool
but so often we hear about miracles , and see lovely testamonies from religious about amazing things that have happened in their lives
they attribute it to whichever God they believe in
I would love to hear from you guys about any such " miracles "
doesn't matter if you don't attribute it to anything but luck ... being in right place at right time etc

just some good happy ending type stories
thank you in advance xx

Some Roman Catholics say they do Pray to her.
Others Roman Catholics say they ASK Mary to pray for them.
Who is right?

According to Hinduism/Buddhism/Sikhism, god is love and love is god. However, at the same time love is only an emotion. These three sister religions teach that in order to achieve moksha (nirvana), one must experience true inner self realisation (often through yoga, meditation, mantras, worship etc). This can only be done when one overcomes ALL EMOTIONS (this includes love) and all intellect (because emotions and intellect are directly associated with the human senses).

My first question is: Are these two contradictory concepts???

If yes, How can a devout Hindu/Buddhist/Sikh reconcile them (if at all possible)???

If someone invented a drug that caused everyone that took it to suddenly "snap-out" of their religious beliefs and to only believe in things that could be proven scientifically and logically, would you want it to be added to the water supply, (sort of like fluoride is to prevent cavities)?

If you had to, would you sneak into the water works plant and dump it in yourself?

Just curious...
