Well, I have 2 friends who are in Demolay and have asked me to join and i am christian, and was wondering what demolay is. For a moment in time i had asked my parents for me to join but they didn't let because for some reason you get brainwashed into what they do and follow what they follow. I mean i believe in God, is demolay something against it? To me it looks like an organization where you just make friends and have fun because i mean that where my friends point of view comes from. tell me is it bad or good? what is it? and please dont paste info from the site cause i have already seen them.

It's Freemasonry for young men. The female equivalent would be the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls or Job's Daughters. There is nothing in the DeMolay organizaton that runs counter to Christianity. However, see how your parents feel about Freemasonry, because it is a Masonic organization. Some people believe wild stories and conspiracy theories about Masonry, but in fact, it's a very charitable fraternal organization.

Demolay is a form of freemasonry for younger people.

They hold to strict rituals, reciting verbatim from a book, wearing certain robes, etc. in the meetings, where people hold positions.

I am a Christian, and a former member. At the time I joined, my friends and I thought it was neat. It seemed Christian-like until you get into the details. In reality, they hold to a Supreme Being, not necessarily God, not necessarily the Trinity. For some this is allah, others it could be something else.

The bottom line is, in hindsight and through the eyes of a more mature Christian, I'm sorry I joined. It does not specifically honor Jesus Christ. Yet, it is very 'spiritual.' I think these organizations can be manipulated, based on those that oversee the meetings. I would rather take that time, and use it to edify the Lord -- a better choice --> join your youth group at church.

It's a harmless fraternal organization that many brands of "Christian" decry because of its association with Freemasonry.

I'm sorry, but if you're concerned about being "brainwashed," you ought to start by giving up Christianity.

I don't know how you'd convince your parents to let you join if they have qualms about it for "religious" reasons. There's certainly no rational objection.
