God made angels. Skip the middlemen and go straight to the source. :)

BTW, the Bible never says that each person will have a guardian angel. That's just myth and legend.

All I can tell you is what the bible says. You can entertain angels by serving strangers. You can only pray to and worship God, not angels. You can pray for God to send angels. Basically all communication must go through God. The bible has a few rare times where people were visited by angels, Daniel was praying in chapter 9, Joseph and Mary, John on the Island of patmos when he received revelations. If you want a visitation, follow their examples and pray fervently seeking to be part of God's work. Daniel was awesome: When he realized the 70 year occupation of Israel was almost over, he wanted to be a part of what God was doing. Do you see the signs of times? We are in the end times right now and there are many opportunities to get on board with God.

I just talk to my guardian angel. I don't "hear" him the way one would hear another human being. I just sorta know he's been there or done something.

I asked my guardian angel to tell me his/her name once, and immediately the name "Victor" came into my head, very overwhelmingly. I've never really liked that name, but the meaning of it is very suitable for my guardian angel. My two older kids have also asked their guardian angels what their names were. My daughter was 4 and she came up with "Red Light, Green Light," which I thought was a kinda groovy way for a little kid to think about a guardian angel providing both direction and protection against potential danger. I looked up "directional light" and came up with the name Abner, so that's how I refer to her guardian angel. (I ask Abner to help her out especially on some days...a mom thing, I guess).

In my faith, we have a prayer to our Guardian Angels that goes something like this:

Angel of God, my guardian dear
In whom God's love entrusts me here
Ever this day be at my side
To light, to lead, to rule and to guide.

And big "duh" to a poster above - if it's an angel from GOD, it's not going to steer you in the wrong direction! Guardian angels help us stay on the path to Jesus. Read the story of Balaam in the O.T. and you'll see what I mean.

Also to a poster above, if angels are messengers from God as you say, then you MUST talk to them -- you can't ignore a message from the Lord! You contradict yourself.

Well, I am an atheist, but my mother (devout Roman Catholic) taught me this prayer when I was a child:

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here: ever this day be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule, to guide. Amen. (Yeah, I still know it by heart. Weird, huh?)

And I guess that talking to your guardian angel wouldn't be any different than praying to any other saint or angel... just say hi and talk to them. Hearing it, I suppose, would be like hearing what any other saint or angel (or even god) had to say to you.

St. Jerome expressed it:

"how great the dignity of the soul, since each one has from his birth an angel commissioned to guard it."

First of all, an angel is a heavenly messenger of God. You shouldn't and don't need to talk to him. An angel only does what God tells him. Just trust God and pray only to Him (pray means communicate) and He will take care of the rest, otherwise you will get kind of Flaky and the Devil will take advantage of that BIG TIME!

If you attempt to talk to an angel, you are more than likely going to get the wrong kind. The angels follow God's bidding only. If you open yourself up to mysticism, you will open yourself up to the demonic world. There is danger there, my friend. You will be deceived. All you need is Jesus. And He said, "He who comes to me, I will never cast out."

Aundrea,
Nowhere in the BIBLE does it say that we have a "Guardian Angel. The Guardian Angel is a man-made creation. The angels serve GOD and act for HIM. I suggest that (if you are a Christian) you pray for GOD'S Assistance in your walk and HE will assist you. HE is our one to pray to thru CHRIST of course. I would be glad to assist in any other spiritual question that you have any time. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

How do you know you need one? Guardian angels are put in people's lives for a reason, you may not have one - there aren't as many angels as there are humans.
Just consider Jesus your guardian angel!
