Yes there is, you cannot kill the wounded the captured should be fed just like your men, you cannot fight non combatant, you are not allowed to mutilate a body or behead anyone under any circumstances, you should be on the defense never attack first, so all the suicide bombing and beheading are not Islamic the attack on 911 is not Islamic and any true Muslim with 2% knowledge of Islam and the Quran will tell you.

I'm Christian, but I know what I learned in Social Studies (which isn't much). I think it deals with Muhammad saying that if you die for your country, you go to heaven. Of course, at that time, the country and religion were together. If you died for your country, it was like you were defending your religion. Of course, I don't quite agree with defending your religion through violence, but, hey, that's what happened before Jesus, so I guess Muslims do it after Jesus. If I recall, there's some prophecy about holy wars that some (not all, SOME) muslims believe is going to happen soon. I think the terrorists are trying to start those, so that the End might come... Is that right? Seriously, I'm not sure if I know what I'm talking about. If I get a thumbs down, I'll take off my answer....

the Quran talks about fighting those fought you according to your religion and kicked you out of your homes But don't exceed the limit:
[190] And fight in the Way of Allâh those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allâh loves not the transgressors.
Quran 2:190
and then God forbid killing the innocent soul and that's a great sin in Islam after taking partner with God in worship:
[33] And do not kill anyone whose killing Allâh has forbidden, except for a just cause.......
Quran 17:33
do not kill yourselves non kill each other:
[29] .... And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allâh is Most Merciful to you.
[30] And whoever commits that through aggression and injustice, We shall cast him into the Fire, and that is easy for Allâh.
Quran 4:29-30
so whoever broke the law of God, God will question him on the day of judgment, and everyone is responsible on his deeds.

There are very serious verses on war and ways of war in the Quran.
But the gist is the following and these are not, fictious personal opinions. These are what they teach us in Sharia schools:
Wars are allowed in the Quran with the following rules:
-Wars are done in open ground, on open terms (both sides know theyre warring) According to this, even spywork is not allowed in Islamic Law.
-Wars must serve a higher purpose: defense of rights, defense of property, defense of life. (those who came after the prophet and warred for land were twisting these rules)
-You cannot kill defenseless, weak, sick people, or children when in war, no matter which side the people belong to. (how do you think the Ottoman Empire grew so big?)
Within the above mentioned framework, wars are allowed and seen as a necessary and fair means for the masses to defend themselves when necessary.
As you can see, the strict ethics of war in Islam are common sense and very applicable. And they do not leave much ground for Islamic fanaticism to come out and kill people on the street.
Even the executions in Islam need to be done by Islamic courts and the Quran does not give anyone on the street the right to take anyones life, even if its in self defense.

Like everything else...INCLUDING the 10 commandments, the Quran is relative. BTW, the 6 th read as thou shalt not commit murder. It is quite alright to kill. Furthermore, the Hebrew word for "kill" is "×ר×" - "harog", while the Hebrew word for "murder" is "רצ×" - "retzach", which is found in the Ten Commandments "×× ×ª×¨×¦×" - "lo tirtzach".

Yes. If anyone uses force against you, then you have the right to use that force back. If anyone attempts to harm you, you have the same right to protect yourself by defending yourself. Murder is prohibited.
The kinds of terrorists you are talking about are Radical Muslims. They believe that Allah has ordered them to go kill in the name of ALLAH, which is not true. They take bits and parts of the Qur'an which some of them are metaphorical(ex:Cutting tongue out for lying is an expression to show that lying is not permissible and can cause serious consequences, but doesn't mean to actually cut the tongue out) and they take it into a serious matter. Radical Muslims are really ignorant because they believe ALLAH told them to do so, which is not the case.

i have a very close friend who is a muslim and they said that the quran said to have peace and love all that are around you. it has some stories of the past wars and deaths and what happened but the point of those are to show the history of islam. i even read it. islam is supposed to be a religion of peace, but terrorists who say they are "muslims" are doing the exact opposite of what the quran says. if you have noticed, when muslims greet eachother they say "as salam ualakom wa rah matallah hi wa bara cota ta ho," i don't know if i spelled it right but it means "may allah's (god) peace and blessings be upon you."

Killing is a MAJOR sin in Islam. Those who kill in the name of Islam and think God will be pleased with their actions are sadly misguided.

The Qur'an is of two minds on the subject. In general, killing is taboo -- except if one is fighting the infidels.
