The truth is that there are many "plans" and many "purposes" in life, not just one. The goal of God's plan can be found in the The Revelation of Jesus Christ, Chapters 21 & 22. Those chapters also describe the final outcome.

I believe that the goal behind God's plan is to continue watching as The Great Free Will Experiment unfolds. God may just be waiting to find out what OUR goal is!
We may just be giving God the gift of our own unpredictability. Perhaps God's infalliable, omniscient side is withholding the ending from the side of God that watches, transfixed, as this experiment unfolds. God can watch each detail on a microscopic basis, or the whole picture from a cosmic viewpoint, simultaneously, and the suspense is wonderful to behold.
We humans stand at a crossroads, now, as we develop a truly global community. We can, at long last, begin to make decisions about which way to take this planet and ourselves. We can decide what kind of humans to develop into. Will we be greedy or compassionate? Will we act from love or from hate? Will we preserve this Eden Earth, or will we use it as our sewer and our cemetery? Will we choose to grow to be more like God, or to become Satan?
I pray that humankind will not disappoint our Creator.

That is assuming that any god would have a plan. If god had a plan it would be an infallible plan. If his plan demands that we use are free will to chose to love him then we would have no real choice because we were created within that plan to do just that. If we have true free will then by our actions we could upset the plan. Any god who's plan fails is not an infinite god and there by not a true god in the modern sense. Historically (Greek, Roman, Norse, Egyptian) gods were not infinite and in very few cases did any historical god "create" the universe they were normally part of an event. Those gods were capable of plans because they were finite (many died or would die in the Norse case). The christan and modern ideal of god is proposed to offer free will and thereby is either not infinite (did not create the universe) or does not have a plan.

The purpose of God's plan was the same of any parent. A loving father wants his children to become everything they can be because anything great they do only magnifies him. God's plan was created so that we could get a body and learn through choice. No one can grow without opposition and when we lived with God before we came to earth we knew no evil and therefore could not grow spiritually. That is why the earth was created. Jesus Christ died for our sins because "no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God." By suffering for our sins Christ is able to act as an intercessor for us at judgement day.
The final outcome is this: if you did everything you were supposed to do to the best of your ability (too much to write down here because I don't like reading long answers and I'm sure most people don't, and this one is long enough) then you will have the chance to become like God. Not as great as God because like I said earlier, anything great you do only adds to His glory.
This all seems really complicated written down like this. It is easier to explain in person. Hope that helps.

Gods ultimate plan is for the Earth to be like the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus Christ said that the Kingdom of Heaven begins here. I believe Heaven would be the ultimate pleasure to each individual. That desire which would make us happiest and that fullfillment throughout all eternity. This is what I believe is Gods ultimate goal if only we would believe and let him achieve it.

Gods plan is for a new heaven and new earth to be shared with all of His children, i.e. those that love Him. Our time on the present earth is to give us 70 odd years, in some cases, to make our minds up whether we want to spend eternity with Him or not.

Gods plan is beautiful because of its simplicity. To smite the wicked. Neat, isn't it? Frankly it is the weak who dream up all that rubbish about God wanting us to be happy. God actually wants us to follow the rules and do as we are told - no compromise and no excuses. And then he will smite the wicked. It is a big mistake to think that God will conform to our standards and be lovey dovey and stuff. Forget it. There will be much pain and suffering. This is nothing.
