Do you think they are somehow lesser than you?

Do you respect them believing what they do? I mean, if they seem like a nice enough person?

I mean look at the way Muslims can't decide how to dress - some wear the burqa, some don't. Surely, God either wants them to wear it or not! Why is it a grey issue?

The same with Christians. They can't agree what a good Christian is. Some of them believe the Creation story was literal, some figurative.

Surely the 'Moses Method' was easier ... God gave a list of rules and you follow them and it's all good.

He ought to lay it out for us to play it out.

When you say I will pray for you, how often do you forget to? I have found it best to pray right then and there. It does not matter where you are, Who do you want to please God or Man? God tells us to bear one anothers burdens, this means we are to pray for each other. Do you care what people think about you so much that you would risk forgetting to lift your brother or sister up in their time of need?
I struggled for a long time with forgetting to pray and feeling bad about it. So I made it a practice years ago to stop whatever I am doing and pray. I urge you to please do the same.

When you say you will pray for somone, do you do it right away?

I just have a crush on him right now, but if things ever work out to be serious, and I find out that he is a Torah-observant Messianic, should I start to follow the Jewish dietary laws (Leviticus 11)? We each believe the same things, the only difference being his Jewish background. So it wouldn't be like I'm changing my beliefs, just the way I eat. What would you do?

Many ask why does God allow bad things to happen,
the bible makes it clear their are two wills, the will of God and the will of man, the Will of Man chose what it chose, God allows Mans will to happen because he gave man freewill the decsion of one will affect many, Now god may allow a trial to come to you because he wants you to mature and learn and about trials of sin you do bad bad will come to you, the bible also says because the increase of wikidness many hearts shall go cold, we now days have so much trouble trusting anyone. and we close our hearts., now the will of man it was the will of the warlords that made africa what it is. it is the will of man that has many others suffer, the ones who have died in the iraq warm that is because of the will

I personally believe that it is hard to find any productivity going on becuase of distinct differences in Views which are impossible to conjoin. Therefore I believe that there should be a seperation of this section be put into place because of the existing animosity presented in this section of Yahoo! Answers. I believe that many people forget the purpose of this is to have questions answered! I believe that to each our own questions may come at a discerning conflict with other views. Therefore I believe that These Subsections be Put in Place.

- Atheism & Agnosticism

I want to see opinions on this matter. For those opinions an Ay or Nay would be helpful too.

you say to us

if god does not exist yet i choose to believe i loose nothing,
but if he does exist and you choose not to believe you loose everything.

well there are a few things that you loose. first. this very theory by your own religion makes you a false prophet. you do not truly believe you only go through the motions out of fear. so you lie to yourself and to the god that you do not truly believe in. furthermore you lie to anyone that you tell about your supposed god. and these are all sins also so you may well be beside me in hell.

second. 2 hours every sunday.

52 times a year.

is just over 4 days a year.

X 80 years. equals 346 days. over a year of your life. wasted.

at 80 years old what would you give for one more year to spend with your grandkids?

and you say that we loose everything?

please explain how you can possibly believe this stupid wager?

not that your religion is wrong, just that this way of explaining it is so flawed.

Is there a scriptural basis for the teaching of sola scriptura? If so, is it stated explicitly in the Bible? Did divine revelation stop after the publication of the Bible? What is the relationship of Sacred Scripture and Apostolic Tradition in the transmission of divine revelation?

The "Ground Zero Cross" was the large steel cross found in the rubble of the World Trade Center by a construction worker, who came across it in the midst of the WTC wreckage just a few days after the attacks. It was standing straight, 20-feet high, surrounded by many smaller crosses. The cross at Ground Zero was not simply the cross beams remaining from an existing building. It was formed out of beams from Building One plunging, splitting and crashing into Building Six.

Atheists are threatening to file a lawsuit to prevent the cross from becoming part of any permanent memorial.

Do you think it should go or stay?

You can choose a ready guide
In some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide,
You still have made a choice!
You can choose from phantom fears,
and kindness that can kill,
I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose free will!

Aside from the fact I've just quoted Rush, how do you feel about those lyrics? I'll be honest, at some point in my life, that portion of the song made me choose theism, for some reason, I'll never know.

Tell me, what are your thoughts on that portion of the song?

Alot of people want to question faith in God and creationisn. My question is if we came from a one-celled organism where did the one celled organism come from? Big bang? where did the matter come from? Ive always been so confused over the "scientific" explanations. people say christians are unintelligent because they believe in what they cant see or research but please tell me how these other "theories" can be proved. I know God exists because I sense him every day all around me. Plus I "talked" to him this morning.

Here’s my counter argument about the christian God’s existence: According to the Bible, God is perfect, since God is perfect(Omniscience), his plans/ideas should therefore be perfect(no flaws/ no unintended consequences), now tell me why does"non-believers exist”, isn’t one of his goals is to have “everyone” believe in him?
Proving that a non-believer exists - means that his plan is a failure (god = failure?)
Now, I know some may argue that free will cause us these failures not God. Luckily for me I planned out some explanation why his “free will” idea is also a failure. So here goes. WHY THE HELL FREE-WILL CAUSES FAILURE, isn’t free-will also one of God's creation, and Gods are supposed to create failure-proof creations!!!(lol, I made up that word).
If free-will is one of God’s creation, then why does the ability of free-will give us the abilities of denying his existence, God won’t certainly provide his creations with this kinds of ability (the ability not to believe him, etc.)

Definitely not on these boards. I read a book from 1999 which said 86% of U.S citizens were Christians. Only a few were atheistic. What do you think it's like now? Looking on these boards, it seems more like 75% atheist and 25% Christian.

And no comments like "darn, stupid atheists" from christians or "finally, we'll beat the stupid christians." from atheists, please!

Why is Ruth in the Bible? So, I make no secret of the fact that I'm atheist but I was reading the bible again during church on Easter (yeah like you've never done anything just to please your grandparents) and decided to reread Ruth.

So basically, this girl Ruth decides to stay with her mother-in-law. We don't know anything about her past so no way to know why she really didn't want to go home but the point is she stays (like most of us) with the person she knows. They need food so she goes to the fields to get some food. The rich old man thinks she is hot and wants to get with her so he tells the people to give her all the food she wants. Her mother-in-law tells her that the guy clearly likes her so she should sneak in a lie next to him while he is sleeping. Dude wakes up, gives her more food b/c she is hot and he wants her. As custom, he goes to her next-of-kin and says he wants to marry her. He marries the hot chick. The end.

How is that spiritually enlightening?
