Do you think they are somehow lesser than you?

Do you respect them believing what they do? I mean, if they seem like a nice enough person?

Yes, I'm tolerant of people of different beliefs. How could I expect them to respect my own beliefs if I didn't have the decency to respect theirs? And whether they respect my faith or not, I'm still not excused from practicing tolerance.

Yes, I am tolerant of people of other religions. As a Chaplain I minister to people of all religions even those who profess atheism.

No, they are not in any way less than I because I am nothing but a recovering sinner.

I try never to offend them by not showing respect for what they believe. I feel that when I am called in to a crisis situation I can minister the Love of Christ to anyone of any belief without compromising my own beliefs.

Dear Happykid,

First of all i think that regardless of religion people should have a healthy respect for all people. Even though people can have religious differences and this can sometimes result in some pretty ugly discussions of those differences- people need to realize that the heatedness of those discussions ought to be from an intention to see others benefit by having a right belief.

For myself as a Christian i share about God's love with people because that's God's heart for people. And more than that, it is painful to see people reject God. In that sense i'm passionate about what i believe- but people have to make their own minds up.

i think Christians often get a rap of being "intolerant" because the Bible teaches that there is only one way to God. You can't change what Christianity teaches because it offends people (but i think as a Christian you can be careful to be as unoffensive as possible when presenting Biblical teaching to others).

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

We were all created equal by God, our Maker. No one is less or more than another. God loves us all. I am tolerant of others and I respect them. I feel everyone has a right to believe in whatever they want and have just as much right as I do to share and express their beliefs. But I will never agree with anything that denies the Deity of Christ as my Faith is on a firm foundation in Jesus. Nice enough is based on works and works will not get you into heaven. We cannot redeem ourselves. We need Jesus to forgive us and Redeem us. God bless.

I actually have mixed feelings. I would say I'm tolerant, but respect is another matter. After studying the Quran, I have trouble mustering respect for Islam, even if I respect many of its adherents. Same goes for Christianity.

Hinduism and Buddhism I generally respect, but I think Buddhism is sugar coated for American consumption.

But I'm not blanketly welcoming of all religion -- in particular, I'm skeptical of the religions that tell you to adhere to the scribblings of some ancient book instead of your own common sense.

I respect other religions. I am a Christian and one of my best friends is Mormon. I am with her all the time. In fact I am going to her house in the morning. I disagree with some of her beliefs but I would never think of my self as a higher person then her.

Of course I respect and tolerate others with different beliefs! What kind of a person would I be if I didn't?

I do not tolerate haters. And the Moron League annoys me at times.

I respect anyone who respects me. I will treat others as I would like to be treated. I have yet to meet a person of different religion than mine who was rude and condescending about my faith.

I believe in God and all that He is about.

I believe that faith unites and religion divides.

Everyone has the right to follow whichever path they decide to go through in whichever form it comes, and I respect that right.

Voltaire said: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

I stand by that.

I respect people from other religions as equals but i Don't tolerate their religion. Believing in their religion is a mortal sin.

the christians have "love the sinner, hate the sin"
i have "love the religion, hate the religious".
Hate is too strong a word (although i will point out it is a direct parallel to the other quote), but it sums up my annoyance when religious people of any denomination GENUINELY try to push their beliefs on others. Not that Y Answers harassment crap, but like laws and beatings and such.
