in the 5th & 6th centuary before Islam, women could trade, own property, inherit fully & choose who the would have a baby with, they could also enjoy the choice of several different partners.
They were not prostitutes but women of position in a tribe.
It seems to me Islam put women back in the stone age and still does.

okay i haven't been able to read the bible lately but there is something i want to still know when you read the bible are you suppose to read fom the beginning of genesis chapter after chapter like a book or just open it and read where ever your mind set you to read. because i always wanted to know that! in addition, i also wanted to know when you mark the scripts in church with a highlighter do you mark the important scripts, or the ones you feel the need to read because you feel those certain scripts will help you?

Religious cultures fostered the work of great artists like Bach and Michelangelo, and the architecture of Florence and Venice. Atheistic cultures, even at the height of their power, have fostered only dross and ugliness. Even in the case of "great" artists like Picasso and Francis Bacon, art produced by atheists is an art of distortion and/or ugliness. Is this because there is no spiritual inspiration behind their work?

This is a question that has bothered me. Was Pontius Pilate 'evil' and responisable for the death of Jesus. He sentanced Jesus to crucifixion, but only because a mob of angry Jews.

The Jews who didn't turn to Jesus denounced him as a heretict and demon faster then you can shake a finger at it, and the Jews took the beaten, bloodied Jesus to Pontius Pilate, who was a Roman governer, and he decided to execute Jesus. [There was even something where the Jews got a choice between freeing Jesus or a horrible murderer named Barbarus, and they chose to free Barbarus]

Jesus also said "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple... In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple."
Luke 14:26-33

If I'm not baptized yet and I move to another state with out telling my bishop where I'm going and try to get baptized by the church in that other state where no one knows my sins, will it work or do they record your sins in a computer and pull them up anywhere in the country so they don't accidentally baptize someone from another state that they weren't suppose to because of previously confessed sin?

My husband is Catholic and I'm protestant. The other day, he took our daughter to his church and when they got back i was told he had her crucifix "blessed" by the priest. The priest also blessed our daughter.
I want to hear answers from Catholics and non-Catholics alike-- what is the significance of "blessing" objects such as crucifixes? Where is it written in the Bible that one should do this? Is this considered "wrong" to non-Catholics, and if so, why?
I just want ppl's opinions-- no bashing each others beliefs, please.

My last Q to the end times, was one of a few that mentioned this;

Yes, and I'm excited about it. Thanks for reminding me, really. What I'm seeing now is Apostasy and a "falling away" within the Church itself. That's the biggest sign, I think. Have you heard or read anything about the true Church coming out of their various denominations and forming their own small groups? I'm interested in taking part in this. I wish I knew some people nearby. A small group for fellowship and study. There are a lot of megachurches where I live and they have a lot of brainwashed people in them.

Can anyone tell me where I can find sciptures relating to this answer, as I have heard about this, But I need to know Biblically!?

Some religious people say that they see a deeper meaning from C.S. Lewis's novels 'The Chronicles of Narnia' as being connected to the Bible.

(example: Aslan the Narnia lion is in a way another form of Jesus and he died to save us)

Same again with 'Star Wars' films.... all about good Vs evil.

What are your opinions on this?
Are there any other possible bible references in other films/movies (apart from bibical films)?

If Jesus were real he would smoke pot, because if you think about it alcohol was prohibitionized at one point also, making it illegal. And i know anything habit forming can be a sin, but alcohol is, and he drank it. And if it being illegal and all is a matter, and is connected to the bible with being a sin, then COULD HE SMOKE POT IN AMSTERDAM?

It would be one thing if they actually had any solid proof, but they don't. It seems to me that they're just so afraid of spending an eternity in Hell that they have to keep lying to themselves that God doesn't exist so that they don't have to think about the eternal consequences of their rejection of God. Why else would they even remotely care about disproving His existance?
