Every single person who considers themself a christian, feels concern when they read Mt.7:21-23. Most of you who responded to my last question seem to think that it is referring to someone other than themself. If someone calling Jesus lord and doing good works in His name (the name of Jesus) doesn't describe christians, than what does? Maybe you're right and He is not referring to you because you are a true christian whatever that means. Consider another possibility. Jesus made it crystal clear to His followers that His ministry was coming to an end and that it would be carried on by the Holy Spirit from here on out. Do christians only pay lip service to the Holy Spirit while emphasizing Jesus and the bible?

I grew up in a Southern baptist church and my dad was and still is a preacher. I was "saved" when I was little, and then again as an adult I "rededicated" my life to Christ several times. In the past couple of years though I have begun to believe God doesn't exist. It just doesn't make any sense to me logically. I now consider myself an agnostic. I'm not sure God exists, but I'm not bold enough to come right out and say I'm positive that He doesn't exist. I just don't see any evidence that convinces me he does. My mom says I just need to get back in church, but I don't want to go to any organized church. I don't want to pray or read the Bible or do any of that stuff, I think it's all malarky. What am I, an agnostic, an atheist, or "saved" but just have "fallen" out of fellowship?

This isn't a very important question but I am just curious as to the answer.

When Jesus Christ lived, the Middle East was not the epicentre of the world then. The epicentre of the world at that time was India and China because these countries were the source of global commerce and innovation etc. The Middle Eastern and Medditeranean people did know that Indians and Chinese existed, because India and China traded with the Roman empire, Alexander, a few hundreds years before Christ, had attempted to conquer India and Cleopatra tried to send her children at the last minute to India to save their lives.

So why is any mention of China and India completely ommitted in the holy bible?

Not wanting to get into any fights here...just curious how momons can base their beliefs on a man claiming to have been give a new gospel when the Bible clearly teaches against even the idea of such a thing.

Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

My ex girlfriend who I loved with my heart and soul cheated on me about a year ago. Were together 2 1/2 years. She cheated on me because I didn't ask her to marry. I would have married her without any inhibitions if I knew it meant that much to her. I just wanted her to finish school and be happy with her job and wanted us to agree about kids, where we were going to live, etc(major issues in a marriage)..before I asked her. Being the compassionate person that I am I forgave her and said I needed time to rebuild trust. After 8 months I caught her again cheating and lying again, saying I was not treating her well but through all this time of me being so bad she kept itching for me to get married. My question is, all through the relationship she said how she wanted me to go to church (catholic) with her. Now my question is if your a catholic does this mean you can go lie and cheat on someone who's honest and then just go to church to get forgiven? Her actions sound like Satan's work to me

Some of the major forms of heretical teaching including Monarchism, Sabellianism, and Arianism seem to be used by Christians to explain the Trinity even today. (At least in a basic understanding their explainations they seem to point towards these beliefs.)

To finally reach that peace ...
Do we have to find it inside us or create it around us? Or is it something else ?

Hi,

I watched a TV programme recently about 'The Most hated family in America'. It was The Phelps family, who have their own church (Westboro Baptist Church) and pastor (who is their Grandfather), and they believe they are the only people going to Heaven, and that everyone else is going to Hell.
They protest on the streets carrying signs saying things like:
'God hates fags'
'Fags go to Hell'
'fag troops'
One of Princess Dianas face saying ' adulterous Whore burn in Hell'

amongst other ridiculous comments!

they groom their young kids to feel this way, and to hate America, hate troops, hate homosexuals, and anyone who associates with homosexuals.
They also hate Black people (and basically anyone who isnt a White, hetrosexual, married, God fearing Christian)
Their children have no friends as a result, b

Im sure these views must be extreme, and if anything promote hatred, and as such, surely, sucure their place in Hell rather than heaven.
What are peoples views?

xxxx

My family has been wronged by 'powerful people' of the government since the past 15 years. At this time, we have lost all hope of escaping their deeds. My father will be sent to prison for something he did not do n probably get a death sentence. There is no way we can make the 'lawmakers' hear our pleas of innocence & they will never let the people of my country know what really happened so long ago. The ones who actually comitted the crime enjoy a carefree and protected life while we die a new death every passing day.

Does god see all this? Can he intervene? WILL he intervene?

In the US, you're generally assumed to be a heterosexual Christian. You can draw more than a few parallels between 'coming out' as a homosexual/bisexual and as an atheist/agnostic.

My parents, brother, girlfriend, and a few friends know I'm an atheist. At work, though, I'm pretty circumspect, and I try to avoid the Guy Who Reads The Bible On His Breaks (does every workplace have one of these?). About the only tipoff any employee or manager might have of my theological leanings is my willingness to work on Sunday mornings.

Who knows you're an atheist? Was revealing your atheism anything like a 'coming out'? Is there anywhere that you consciously avoid talking about religion, or profess a religion that you don't have?

I mean they both have - so called holy languages.
- women in veils
- prayer beards for repititious prayers
- perform pilgramiges
- have fasting months (lent for Cathholics)
- repititious liturgy
- they both believe they can pray for people to get out of hell
- They both fought in the crusades (against each other)
- persecute people who turn from their religion ( Catholics don't do this anymore but who can forget the inquisitions)
- Muslims don't bow to idols but can bowing to a house and kissing a stone (Mecca) be called idolatry?

The similarities are pretty amazing when you look closely.
