As a Christian, I knew this already. The Egyptians believed in the immortal soul too - later, adopted by the Greek philosophers i.e Plato. This was contrived to exercise control over the masses using fear-religion (roasting forever, in an ever-burning hell fire); hence, immortality of the soul was invented. Interesting enough, Satan, in the garden of Eden pulled this one on Adam and Eve (see: Genesis chapter 3, verse 4 - in spite of God telling them , that they would die) ! Only Jesus Christ is immortal (see: First Timothy chapter 6, verse 16) !!!
