ok so back in the day...Jesus was mocked by everyone and was accused of committing blasphemy. But just because we read in the bible that he really IS the son of God, we say that "of course we would've followed him and given him worship". But what if that had happened today?! What if a man had just come up and started preaching and and claiming to be the son of god? Would you seriously have followed him? or would we do EXACTLY what most of the people would've done back then, and ignore his teachings and mock him? so pretend that there's no bible...and we're in the same position as the people of jerusalem.
can anyone truely say that they would've followed a man who claimed to be the son of god? or would you think he was a crazy psycho. :] just curious. thanks

But I really just can't. I don't know why. I hear all these people saying how awesome it is knowing Jesus, and I'd like to. I'm an atheist, and I really just can't figure out any logical reason why God should exist. Jesus sounds so neat, and I know he was a real person. I like his teachings, but I just don't want all the BS dogma baggage that many christians seem to haul around. Is there anyone else out there who feels this way?
So far as Hell in concerned, I don't believe any loving God would create such a place, or send his creations there. If that is what God is like, I won't follow him regardless of where I end up. I don't care if he did create everything, if he sends his children to eternal torture, he's a Jerk.

So, considering these opinions, is there any solution? I'm quite happy the way I am, Jesus just seems neat.

I have a friend I have known for 5 years. She used to be a hard partier and did drugs and drank every weekend. I got married and then she got married and I got pregnant and she got pregnant and her husband got a job with my husband, thier work place is very christian oriented and that is what is normal over there. Everyone who works there goes to the same church and lives in the same area. She got all buddy buddy with my husband's boss' wife. And they are really big christians. I've been saved for 7 years. So all of the sudden she starts showing up at my church and sending me forwards that are all about God and how much she loves him. As far as I know before she suddenly became christian she never set foot in a church. I am confident she is only doing it to get her husband ahead a work and kiss the boss' butt. I don't want to say anything to anyone about it because I don't want to question her christianity. I hope she is for real but I really don't think she is...

While surfing the internet I came across a site talking about telekinesis(no I wasn't surfing for dirty things for anyone who thinks like that) and one of the steps for telekinesis is getting an additional source of energy. They did list a few such as the sun, earth, water, fire, etc. but they didn't list darkness, so I am wondering if you could consider darkness a source of energy for telekinesis? If so how could you use it as a source of energy?

who described this " one-ness" ?

A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive.

I have read questions here from those who claim they have proof that God does not exist- and then they ask questions that blame God for the suffering in the world. Interesting don't you think? If there is no God, why do you think they blame someone that does not exist?
If you have not figured it out already I do believe in God-

does it really matter that much if a person is wrong or right about what they believe?

of course, it matters if a person's beliefs make them feel superior to others, or if they believe that everyone is going to hell in a handbasket because they are evil, but most people i know, religious or not, dont feel superior because of their beliefs and dont hate the world.

What are your thoughts on this?

Is anyone else considering taking a break from Y!A R&S because of the outrageous abuse of the report function?

People are dropping like flies because uptight butthole trolls can't stand that some of us don't agree with them, and Yahoo is doing jack crap about it. Godzilla, Laptop Jesus, Acid Zebra, and my very first account was deleted due to numerous baseless, bogus reports.

By the way, I don't know if I'm actually taking a sabbatical, but I'm seriously considering it and wanted to know if anyone else was as well.

As spiritually void as I am, why can't preachers either put the fear of god in me, or exorcise the "demons" that keep me from turing to god?
