Because only the weak and feeble-minded need a religious order to dictate the rules of life to them. You dont need God to tell you what it means to be a decent person. Treat others as you wish to be treated. If you are an a##hole, you will learn that is not a nice way to live.
To live a life with zealots threatening your every move, and constant bribing (do this and you will join us in the new system, blah blah) or do this and you will burn for all eternity, how can that be a happy and fulfilled life?
I think we should all find our own God ( to use the term loosely) be it themselves, our beautiful earth (mother nature) or anything else which is tangible.
An honest intelligent person does not need a book to live by, or the promises of a false salvation.

That the problem with that question is that even the devil believes in God and he does not live a "happy and fulfilled life". Read the bible to search for your answers to life. You will be surprised at the knowledge and fulfillment you will get from reading the bible and praying.

Holy **** on a **** sandwich that's a narrow minded question.
Your God is the only right one. The other 2000 believed by humans in the past are all wrong. And the various beliefs about death are all wrong except for yours where you get to go to a magical cloud kingdom if you do stuff right, like acting good out of fear of going to a very bad kingdom of fire where you will be forever tortured because you didn't follow all the rules perfectly.

I guess we should all die then shouldn't we?

It's pretty easy. I accept that I only get this one life and so I do everything I can to enjoy it and to make the world better for the people who come after me. I don't see why believing in a god or in some sort of immortality would make this life any more meaningful.

"Can a fantastic guy stay without God?" i can evaluate myself a fantastic guy, seeing that i know i'm for certain and human beings round me continuously tell how truthful i you may be. i can stay and not using a God, I do in simple terms not trust contained in the God maximum human beings imagine off. once you're saying God, usually sufficient human beings imagine you're reffering to a Christian God, even as my god is the god of unconditional love; which I really have discovered after a glance for of more advantageous then 8 years. "i'm I Atheist, Christan. What am I categorised as?" As an atheist, yet more advantageous so as a fantastic guy. keep that in innovations!

It is reasonable to ask how one can live a happy and fulfilled life while thinking the world is flat. A belief is obviously a non-essential, trivial thing.

I'm far more compelled to live a happy and fulfilled life with the belief that this is my only chance at one

Trivially easy. I have had my share of the arrows of outrageous fortune, but am still having fun. I have fine children and delightful grandchildren; what's not to like? And, is there a heaven? One evening, I picked up a burger and shake at McDonald's and took off in the Cessna for a four hour trip to the north. It was a beautiful clear night, and the aurora borealis was in full play right in front of me. I need no better heaven than this.
