My dearest friend may be dying. I have started to wonder if there is a God.(Not related to this) Can it still be that we evolve through different planes of development, even without God?

I wouldn't like to go to America because of all the gun crime, we see it on the news all the time. So scary.

Now do you see how silly *some* people are?

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

I question my faith all the time. Sometimes I feel really far away from God and sometimes, I'm just searching for a deeper understanding.

Other days I feel so strong. I wonder what causes these ebbs and flows?

I heard this quote the other day:

"My faith is plagued with doubt with only a few moments of clarity. I hold on to these."

It was made by a minister and really seemed like something Icould identify with. What do you reckon?

So many times I hear Christians say things like:

"But God didn't MEAN that we should stone adulterers or kill witches, or chop off women's hands, he meant that...."

And no "but thats the old testament" answers please (see link)

I just lost my very dear cross. I almost cried. I bought it last week and I was praying and it works!! my friend is better now but still in pain.

this morning I was working and when I finished, I changed my clothes and I didnt had a tshirt on me and I should feel the cross. but no, my neck was empty. I dont get it. I had the cross on a strong string. how could I lose both cross and string????

anyway I am in love with velvet material. I still have few pieces of velvet left and I would like to make a cross.
but now I have this problem: will God still be with me, even if the cross is made out of velvet?

I have this feeling that only crosses bought in stores or in churches are ´the right one´. and I am scared cause praying helped and my friend is doing better now but I am affraid that praying wont be so effective. I dont wanna lose my friend.

what do you think?

I hope I dont sound strange with this question.

and thanks for answering.

And how come when God talks to you, it is always in validation of your beliefs, and when he talks to someone with conflicting beliefs, he validates there's too. It seems that God is talking to everyone except for me, yet nobody seems to agree on what he has to say.

According to fundamentalist Christians, a person either goes to heaven or to hell if they die. Suppose a child dies before it is old enough to know right from wrong, or to understand anything about religion. If it goes to hell--apart from being obviously unfair--wouldn't it be an unacceptable risk to have children? If it goes to heaven, wouldn't it be logically better to kill it painlessly before it is old enough to risk hell, thereby ensuring its eternal well-being? Doesn't this show the absurdity of fundamentalist beliefs about the after-life?
