The Celestine Prophecy is light fiction built around New Age theories. That said, once you get passed the rather simplistic plot, these theories would seem to have some validity, so long as they're taken as that ... theories, i.e., not (at least yet) provable facts. Redfield's (the author's) main idea, in my view, is that we'll someday be able to advance beyond the rigid and dogmatic theologies prevalent in religious orthodoxies, and instead see the basic truths inherent in all enduring faiths, accept and internalize those truths, modifying our behavior accordingly. Reading Cellestine might be a good starting point for someone looking to evolve spiritually, though I'd view it as the only beginning of the road. Beyond that, it's important to choose a path in which one can deepen and expand their knowledge and nourish their soul. But that's an answer to another Yahoo Question ;>. Good luck.

Its like buying a new car, suddenly you start noticing them everywhere, but it is only a story. When we read the book my partner and I started noticing things, I must admit though, when things happen we always says "celestine prophecy" and laugh but it kinda answers why things happen. So if it works for you its harmless enough, but dont take it seriously, its only a made up story written by a medium.

Every person's 'revelation' is just that: one person's revelation. It does not lessen the necessity or importance of such a revelation (for each revelation to which we expose ourselves, even if it becomes a 'false' one, teaches us something about the revelation waiting us) but it is like driving a car to get to Everest: a vehicle is only as good as its ability to take us where we need to go.
My favorite example of 'enlightenment' is the story of two monks walking through a zazen meditation class. The junior monk notices a pupil has fallen asleep and is about to wake him up. The senior monk stops him, saying "A sleeping buddha is still the buddha."
