If it's for public display purposes, and you are not an artist, probably anything made out of 'adult entertainment' like girlie magazines or vibrators. Artists are 'allowed' to be controversial, to provoke discussion, and thus can represent 'sacred' objects without restraint (if their presentation 'lessens' the spiritual value of the object to zero, then it was not a spiritual object to begin with.)
Food is ok, so long as it is not done in a 'sacrilegious' manner. And what is 'sacrilegious' coming from one person could be quite spiritual coming from another. The intent has as much to do with the display as the object itself.
Alot of it depends on why you are making the cross. Jesus is not going to send you to 'hell' for making a cross out of eclairs or rasberry donuts, although some high-minded religious people might condemn you an awful lot.
