I may well be called a looney for this but I believe the childs story, as I do believe in Angels and I have had a few instances of their reality in my own life,I simply do not care who believes this as it is a personal experience for me, but let me say this,God loves us so much that there is nothing that He would not give us for our eternal salvation and Angels are part of His gift to us,but we need to believe and respond to them.
