Did you pay? I would have bought a couple tacos instead.

In a perfect world, everything would be free.
In this world, you have to pay (an awful lot at that) to get inside Disneyland.
It is wrong, but the decision to pay is entirely up to you. If you feel that the experience is worth it, pay and find out. If it wasn't, at least you don't have to pay $2.50 to that church ever again. Maybe there is a reason the church is charging $2.50; you could always ask.

No, it's an old church and it needs proper maintenance.
So long as they're using any funds left over after maintenance for a good cause I don't see the problem.

Are they a functioing church or an historic site no longer owned by the church but some other interest? In the former case, if you want to go in, pay but recall them as followers of a false religion ( or false followers of a religion) if the latter, suck it up and welcome to capitalism.

That's a bit funny. I'd trust somebody with no money to look after an antique. They'd be more scared of causing damage. Let the poor people in!

Haha, no i do not imagine that'll decrease it. in basic terms throw a dollar into the basket. in case you truly wanna eliminate that coupon then purchase the Fruity Pebbles and donate them to a community soup kitchen or some thing.

Old and interesting architecture costs money to maintain.
If you want to enjoy it, it's reasonable to ask you to contribute to its upkeep. $2.50 isn't much.
