I'm not truthfully sure what the oldest religion was, but I know that Paganism is one of the oldest in the world, pre-dating Chatholicism and christianity by thousands of years.

Difficult one to answer, I would say that when God created Adam and Eve they worshipped Him before they fell from grace and so this would be the first religious event,on the other hand the rest of mankind who came after this did not know the one true Creator God and so as Satan was cast out of Heaven onto the Earth he set himself up as the god of this world and so primitive peoples worshipped him under various names and titles.
This event is really the root of all false gods and idols, remember that Jesus said,`Now is the Prince of this world overthrown`refering to Satan.

Some of the oldest artifacts seem to suggest that Shamanism it the oldest religion. Although most religions declare that they started at the dawn of time.

If you believe patriarchal/monotheistic holy books, then it was theirs, except Hinduism's Vedas were written 1,500 B.C.
Evidence (in Botswana) of snake worship goes back 70,000 years.
If you trust archeology and history, and the subsequent study of peoples worldwide (New Guinea/Amazon/Siberia etc) who haven't changed their cultures since the stone age, then it would be animism/shamanism. Each culture of course regards it's own creation myth etc as the first among one. Many followers of each religion believe THEY are chosen people.

Adam served YHWH/Jehovah until he fell. Then he listened to Satan and disobeyed God.
Next Abel was a worshiper of Jehovah.
