I am not exactly cash strapped but as a self-sustaining (no money from parents) student could have really used the money.

I will be attending a very fansy restaurant and I do not feel very secure with the entire table setting and etiquette. I know all the basics, but I feel that I need to know much more. I would love to take classes in my area, in Orange County CA. If you have any info. please send it my way.

Ok my car broke down. My wife’s uncle has to cars one he is loaning to my wifes mother. I called him to brow the car until my car gets fixed. When I called her to tell her I was taking the car she acted funny like it was her car. She calls today for the car tomorrow. I tell her I can’t because I have a doctors appointment and I have to go to work and the bus is not an option because work is to faraway. She wants the car to go to a party at the senior center. She wants me to call off of work and miss my appointment that I scheduled for a month . (note we have a strained relationship I never talk back to her because she is my wife’s mother but she upsets me daily) I got really upset and yelled at her and told her that it is not her car the owner gave it to me until I can get mine fixed so you will have to deal and hung up. I felt bad called back in an hour and apologized she cut my apology off and told me I was rude and she does not need me and she hung up. Personally I don’t care but this will end up hurting my daughter. My wife is a SAHM so we don’t need babysitting but we do go over there for her to spend time with her. She holds a grudge and will probably will not speak to us until Thanksgiving and that is not an execration . Like I said I have never blown up at her but my wife has and it was silent treatment for months. How do I get her to listen and try to be reasonable my job is more important than a party

My sisters and I are hosting my parents 25th anniversary party. Being that my parents are married and established they have no needs. They are not the collectible type either. We were wondering if there is any way to request monetary gifts in the invitations. Not that we are sleazy or anything. But we plan to send my parents on a trip and we think money would be the best gift. Mature responses only.

I'm a tenant in a room in my landlord's house. He has this habit of coming into my room for no good reason and then breaking wind. Then he goes out guffawing like it's some sort of joke. To be honest I think it's not on. What should I do?

OMG I can't even believe I am asking this, but its pretty anonymous on here so here goes:

I've had a BAD stomache ache all day all I went to use the restroom and realized that I had an accident all over myself and my pants. I tried to clean up as best I could but I am SO scared of smelling. I would ask to go home so that I could change but I am really close with my boss and she would want to know why I have to leave, etc. etc. I am so embarrassed and don't know how to go about this situation.

Please help!

I was just wondering if it was proper. I had a brakelight out in my car earlier and had no clue that it was out until my brother noticed it.

I would have been grateful for someone honking at me and letting me know, but I was just wondering is it proper for someone to do that?

Do you believe that it is possible to decent life in America, without having to mingle or make friends with any of the white or black Americans?

For instance a friend of mine says that since he arrived in the US 7 years back, he has never been able (or had the need) to mingle with any of the native white or black Americans. I mean, the company he works for (software firm) is full of Asians with a couple of whites at the top level whom he doesn't get to meet much at all. The grocery store he goes to is an Indian supermarket with only Indians there, he bought a car from a car dealer who is also an Indian. And last, all his neighbors are Indans with whom he mingles and goes for parties.

Well, I know it's kind of weird why one would not like to mingle with the locals over here, but hey - as long as you are able to lead a decent life, it doesn't really matter right?

I manage my grandfathers resturant. We do a takeout a service and sometimes I fill in on that end as the cashier. When customers come in they tell me the same jokes over and over again. When I dont laugh they catch an attitude. I am not a fake person so if I laugh at something that I dont think is funny you will be able to tell because I am not very good at it. Why do they get mad? I mean I understand that we need to treat everyone with respect but is it disrespectful to simply not laugh at a joke?

Let me be more specific. When driving through various parking lots quite often someone will want to pass in front of my automobile and while thats not the problem. Its those folk who adhere to the "Pedestrian Has the Right of Way" doctrine a bit too much. So much so that they barely pay my several thousand pound automobile any mind, not looking both way before crossing the street and then have the sense to move s l o w l y across the street...deliberately slow as though to say "Screw You." Now this breech of the "You don't do anything stupid and I won't run you down with my vehicle" agreement betweeen peds and drivers...does that apply to these circumstances? I am not speaking of those people with obvious disabilites am talking about those morons who go out of their way to make you wait for them to cross the street at such a slow pace as to think that snails might rush ahead of them. Do they deserve to be crushed?

My mother in law was great until we got married. The next day everything changed. She had an event planned with all the groomsmen and I was not invited (the day after my wedding). That is where it all started. She plans every vacation day my family has, She calls me to thank me for gifts I buy my husband, she has stollen some of our wedding presents, she went through my boxes after we got married and took some of the stuff, and she refuses to call or write me by my name. I kept my last name when we got married. I did not know that it was going to be that big of a deal. I just wanted to keep my fathers name. She has sent me checks for my birthday in a differnet name and I am sure you know I cannot cash them. She sends Christmas presents and tells people my name is different than it is. I have been letting this go for years. I am just sick of dealing with the entire matter. I use to be able to let it go, but it has just gotten too much. She isn't respecting me and I am not respecting myself for just taking it. How do I stop it?

It was my birthday recently and the people I'm currently staying (relatives) KNOW it. Apparently it was also one of the relatives' mom's birthday too. We traveled up to her place for the day of my and her's birthday.

We did a whole bunch of things that day, like shopping. Where they got the mom a gift and TOTALLY ignored my birthday (actually they got the gift like INFRONT of me).

That night when we had dinner, everyone knew it was the mom's birthday and said like Happy Birthday to her. And no one said happy birthday to me. (except for the mom because I told her it was my bday too).

Seriously. I dont think I have ever had a more aggregativing birthday ever, spending it alone would have been better than with these *****-wipes.

I didnt lash out or even slightly ***** out (which I really did wanted to). I mean I'm hurt. I know for sure I'll never come back to this god forsaken place again. I even helped find some of the parts of the gift for the mom.
How would you have acted?
