It's always wrong to be mean to anyone unless they are mean to you. Even then, it's pointless to stoop to their level. You haven't given any details, but the best way to show a waiter that you were unsatisfied with his service is with your tip.

Yes, it certainly is rude and unecessary... I guess you won't mind "a little COLOR in your food".... Think about it- it's probably best to be nice and show some class... Not everything centers around YOU.... Why would you be rude just because you paid for food that doesn't make any sense.... If you get poor service it's best to speak with a manager or write the restaurant a letter stating that you were unhappy with the service/food whatever.. I've gotten some good freebies. Just for being honest, but not out right rude... Remember, most waitstaff make $2 per/hour- and restaurant service jobs are a dime a dozen... So, someone you p'ed off at one restaurant will remember your sorry butt at another... Be wise and don't be an a s s !!!

You shouldn't be mean to anyone. When you don't get good service you simply do not pay for the service by NOT LEAVING a tip. Should you feel the need to take it a little further, talk to a manager, but being mean and rude speaks volumes of you character doesn't it? The way your question is worded makes it sound like you think you're better than someone else.

Yes. It is wrong to be mean to waitstaff. What do you expect to achieve by "showing a little color" besides spit in your food the next time you visit? I'm going to assume you are not as horrible as you sound from your question--everybody deserves the benefit of the doubt every once in a while.

If the waitstaff do not do their job, you don't tip.
But otherwise, you tip. For greasy spoon diners with not a lot of business, 10% is acceptable, but not respectful. For busy, excellent restaurants with top-notch waitstaff, the full 20% is the only acceptable tip. Remember, waitstaff at any restaurant get LESS than the legal minimum wage. They depend on tips to pay their bills.

Have you ever thought that you're not the only person in the restaurant? Or maybe a couple of waiters called in sick and everyone else has to pick up the slack?
Most of the time it's not even the waiters fault. Usually whatever goes wrong in the restaurant it falls on the waiters shoulders, even if it's not their fault.
Have you ever even had a job like this?
My fiance works in a restaurant with an hourly wage of $0.11 and whatever he gets in tips.
Have you ever tried to live off of this kind of money?
I didn't think so.
By the way, if they don't "delivery" try Pizza Hut. They delivery.

Because you're SUPPOSED to be a grown up. All you'll get for being an a.ss is people looking at you like you are an a.ss.
If you politely, calmly complain to the manager, you'll get discounted or free food, an apology, and, at the very least, a reprimand that means something from the manager to the server.
Make a scene and act an a.ss and you might get free food, but the manager will just tell the staff after you leave "What an a.ss."

Maybe they are not serving you the way you expect to be served because another customer has upset them. Sure, there are some waitstaff that dont' do their best but if just one of their customers showed respect and tried to make their day maybe it would rub off and all waitstaff would be happier. Think about it.

There's a right way and a wrong way to handle everything. I'm sure if you were put in the same position, you wouldn't want to be yelled at for things that are beyond your control (food not cooked to specification, etc.). Especially in the case of new people, that could be particularly frustrating. How about you try being a bit nicer when explaining your dissatisfaction, and see how far that takes you?

It's always wrong to 'be mean' to anyone...but there are ways to deal with bad service: 1) 2 cent tip - they'll get the picture; 2) ask to see the manager and be very specific about your complaints - in exactly what ways was the service bad; 3) say something to them, tactfully but FIRMLY.

It is wrong to mean to anyone at anytime. Why pick on waitstaff? Treat people the way you want to be treated. Kindness goes a long way. A friend of mine says "What goes around, comes around."
