I eat everyday at my work cantine so am familiar with the staff that work there but I dont talk to them.

Yesterday. one of the women on the till said '' Have you lost some weight''? ''I spotted you the other day''.

(What a direct and thoughtless rude question?!)

I replied, ''Oh um thanks for noticing..''

She gave me no eye contact whatsoever.

Does anyone else consider this plain rude? I dont even know the woman and Never speak to her.

Im 26 - for info.

I wrote "I thought I would give what I would have spent on flowers do something to make you smile"
This was 3 weeks ago and she has not said thank you.
She lives in my neighborhood and I have seen her since.
I personally gave her the card so I know she got it. Should I say something or let it go?

I am having a $100 dinner per person along with drinks, appetizers, and so forth. I have a huge family and so does my fiancee--totalling about 200 persons on both sides. The total guests are 300. How can I get relatives to help fund my wedding because they are all affluent, but I am not working and fiancee just landed a job, so $$ is questionable right now, but we want to keep up with Jones's as all my relative's weddings were lavish.

If they ask the question, I would think they would want to pick the best, not just the most popular answer. Sometimes this may be both, but I've noticed that people just pick the answer that they want to hear. Why should I continue to try to give my view on peoples questions if they're gonna blow me off and pick what they want to hear?

When you're trick or treating and the person just holds out the bowl of candy, how many pieces are you suppose to take?

....I should have asked this yesterday, but I didn't think about it until I was out tonight.

What is your opinion of breastfeeding in public? I'm not talking about going into the ladies room or being some place and covering your self with a shawl. I'm talking about being out in public, the mall, resturaunt, unisex salon, etc and just opening your blouse, taking your breast out and start feeding you kid?
I never breastfed my kids and I know it's a personal choice (I always found it extremely distasteful and disgusting.) But I find this REALLY disgusting.
A lady had a young baby in a very nice, pricey resturaunt the other night (My husband and I went there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary,) and she just took out her breast and started feeding the baby right at the table. I almost puked up my dinner and I complained to the manager about it, but he said he really couldn't do anything about it. (He did take 25% off of our bill, but the entire meal was totally ruined seeing that saggy wrinkled breast with a huge brown nipple..ewwww.)
Dont people have any class anymore??

Does one wait for an invitation to meet the baby? We've been friends since high school, but never the kind of friends who just drop by. When would it be appropiate to go see them?

How much do you pay a stripper for a visit when she is working the stage? When I say visit, I mean the little show they do for you while on stage for about thirty seconds. Is it to my best interest to tip more per visit or tip the same amount per visit.

It is almost impossible to eat in a civilized manner? For instance tremendously huge hamburgers, too long french fries, giant muffins. As a result people eat with their fingers and need an inordinate amount of napkins. Waiters haveing a habit of comeing to the table while I am eating or talking, interrupt me, and ask "is everything ok?" Sometimes they even try to have fake conversations with me. Also, why can I not freely choose my own table? Thank you

I had an argument with work mates about saying 'your hair looks nice out' to a work mate. Now I told my girlfriend, thinking she would see why everyone over reacted and she is annoyed also that I made the comment. Was it an appropriate comment, since there was no flirting on my behalf?

We are celebrating 4 birthdays (2 family and 2 friends) with an informal gathering at my house. Some invitees are family and they will bring gifts. Other invitees are friends and we've agreed not to exchange gifts. Is this bad etiquette? How should we handle opening the gifts? The family members would want to open gifts before the gathering breaks up. I'm concerned it is bad manners to open gifts in front of others.

I came home at 3:30 and there were several trick or treaters and their parents sitting on my front porch waiting for someone to come home! One parent muttered, "about time" as I approached. I was seething but gave out what little candy I had at that time. Not a thank you from any of them!

What's with this "early" trick or treating?

I live in a dorm. And so my roommate didn't end up going to class because i wouldn't drive her there(most of our classes are at the Inn for culinary. Since we didn't have classes today until after 5pm(some teacher thing). I told her i wasn't going to take her. Then she texted me asking if she could use my car. I told her no. She was mad so she went to sleep. She purposly missed her class. If she left when she first asked if i could have taken her she would have been there on time. But no..

and she missed an important class...i had it yesterday and its for the hardest test for the class.

How can i make her understand i'm not her driver? And get into her head she can't use my car.

food and drinks. This has happened many times in the past to my husband and I really dont get it. Why would anyone require their guests to pay for the food and drink when they are GUESTS? I always thought if you host a party, you pay for everything, unless its specified that its a pot luck party and every one brings a dish to pass.
I feel this is in very poor taste to make people pay money to attend a party that YOU are giving. Am I wrong about this or is this a new trend that is acceptable?

My best friend's daughter is rude, obnoxious, an expert on every subject there is, won't ever let you get a word in edgewise and is the best of everything in everything, thinks shes America's next top model (she's actually homely,) and I can't stand being around her. She's been condesending to me too, I guess because her mother never reprimanded her as a child and let her (and still does) walk all over her.
I've been invited to the daughter's house a few times to watch football games and for various baby showers and kids birthday parties, which I've declined every invititation that was forthcoming because I can't STAND this girl (she's 37 years old, so she's never going to change now, probably just get worse.)
How do I tactfully tell my friend that her daughter is obnoxious, I can't stand her, don't want to be around her, don't want to be invited to her home, etc? My friend is a nice person who thinks that her daughter is "perfect" even though she treats her badly.
Please advise.

I don't have a lot of time (an hour) before kids start coming around, and I want to do something scary, but nothing offensive. Obviously a costume and/or anything elaborate is out.

Any simple ideas that are fun? I was thinking I could put the candy in this bowl I have that has a hole in it. And put it on a table at the door. When kids say trick or treat, my boyfriend will tell them to open the lid, and my hand will come out (with some fake blood) and scare them and then hand them the candy. Good idea?

Ok, there are a MILLION and one suggestions out there in high end magazines for weddings. I want to see what average people do...did you provide children and out of town guests with gift bags? Did you stock the bathrooms full of special supplies? Please HELP! This wedding is running over budget as is. Are these things expected or extras?
