My Mother in Law mary is annoyed that she was expected to pay for her own meal at a restaurant...the meal was organised by her daughter for HER daughter Jos 18th Birthday. There were various family members invited and some friends...everyone was asked to attend and then expected to pay for their own meal...my MIL feels that her daughter and her husband should have offered to pay for her dinner...she feels that she spent a lot on Jos present and that when asked to dinner...the asker should pay...she also feels that if you want to throw a dinner party for a birthday then those invited are guests...and should not pay...who is right? Mu MIL would like your opinions?

He told me not to get offended if I can't handle the truth. Granted, I asked, but then I couldn't help but to be offended. I just thought I was a bit clumsy. I tell people that I like to read when I first meet them. It's just hard to balance people's opinions when you get nervous.

Ok I'm old enough to know the answer to this..but I constantly have to tell my 13 year old son that he should not share drinks or food with his friends. I told him this was a bad practice. I also told him that you never know what someone has inside or outside their mouth (a cold sore that is not totally visible but coming out, sores in the mouth) etc. Am I being totally protective? He doesn't seem to listen to me when I see him sharing someone elses soda. I often give him money to get his own drink, and he just says "I just wanted a drink of Riley's...I don't want a whole drink...I'll just waste it". At this point I want to tell him "then waste it, but don't share!". Can some one out there please tell my son, because he doesn't want to listen to an adult, that this is not a good idea to be doing.

In all honesty, I think I would rather someone just call me a son of a ***** to my face as opposed to doing a bunch of subtle, passive aggressive stuff. I can't stand it when people insist on spending the day giving you sinister looks and making chilly remarks to you and sticking their nose in the air when you're around. If you have a problem with me, grow some balls (goes for both sexes, btw) and confront me head on. If you can't do that, then just drop the issue and move on!

That's how I feel, anyway.

I live in an apartment complex. About once a week, my new neighbor cranks his bass to 11. Here are the steps I have already taken.

1. I asked him to turn it down, and I was ignored.
2. I have contacted the rental office at least 3 times.
3. I have pounded on the floor (he lives below me).
4. I have cranked my bass to drown his out (probably bothers my other neighbors).

I don't want to contact the police for two reasons. For one, I don't want to start trouble. Secondly, it sometimes happens in the middle of the day and I don't think they could do anything.

I am tired of calling the office. I am probably annoying them just as much as my neighbor is annoying me. I love music. I am not a 75 year old guy, but when I want to relax in MY apartment, I should be able to. Should I send him a letter? Should I call the cops? I don't want to start trouble or make him seek revenge on me. Any ideas? Thanks so much for reading my question!

My mom called someone a "*****" and I was appalled... I said that ***** is just like the "n" word. I argued that it is better to call someone black or African-American. Do you agree or disagree?

This is daft but it has got to me a little.
To me Chrristmas is mainly about seeing family and for the kiddies to have pressies.
MY future sister in law is a real snob and seems to always make some kind of horrible remark about the family or what gifts she gets from us or the parents.
The other day she said " Ill be happier with money or vouchers than the cheap tat we usually get!......
I was speechless as we usually spend about 30-40 on each person!
what do you think? I feel like not bothering to get her anything this year but fear that would look bad.

I have been working as a Sales Assistant for a company for just over 2 years now. I wish to leave as soon as possible, not because I hate the job/people just because I have had a better offer from somewhere else.

I'm sure in my contract it stated a 1 month notice period is required. I usually work Saturdays, tho occasionally have swapped to Sundays.

I wondered if I hand my resignation letter in today, or post it 2moro, basically so the manager will recieve it by the end of the month then can I state my last day as the 30th Nov? Or do I have to work 4 Saturdays and therefore my last day would be the Sat 1st Dec? Does the 1 month mean 30/31 days or 4 working days.

Like movie stares do rich people always talk about how much they are worth or always buy expensive things for themselves. Someone told me that most wealthy people don't brag about what they have but live modestly. Is this a true statement?

Men can go down the street topless, but if a woman does it she gets arrested or yelled at. Even when a woman wears a sports bra or tube top in public she often gets criticized, does anyone think that isn't fair?
and does anyone know why the law/people work that way, or any means of changing it?
