nicely, i'm no longer going to pretend to be an expert on love, because, face it - is there fairly this style of element? this will be taking position for distinct motives. You practice severe college english, and also you've suggested that countless your scholars are disrespectful and unmotivated. you'd be feeling those issues because you appreciate the version in her compared to her classmates. it ought to also be that because you're older than she is, and he or she's in simple terms graduating severe college, you spot slightly of your self in her, or are in simple terms fascinated and invested in her. you could also bypass again to primal instincts - she's admitted she's a rape sufferer, and also you had to guard her per chance. She's youthful on your eyes, yet another excuse. also, those who carry & act the way Chelsea does are pleasing evidently. it ought to also be a fatherly instinct - i'm no longer effective once you've youngsters or no longer, or are even questioning about it, yet isn't that the way you would go with your daughter to be like? All in all, i imagine you've listed distinct the reason why it is taking position on your answer - her habit and visual charm is attracting you. I honestly don't have any own journey although, and would in simple terms wish that this facilitates you fairly.

Of course My Wife Sounds better. However it is definitely one of those things that are no big deal. I would not get upset because my husband referred to me as 'The Wife' unless what came after or the subject mater was wrong.

Never really thought about it, but yeah, it does sound better as "my wife" versus "the wife".

Although being called "the wife" sounds better than being called "the old lady", or even "my old lady". I truly truly dislike that term -- ultimate in disrespect.

I gotta agree with "Medic" and "Mother and Father" on this one. If you're married something like this just doesn't seem like that big of a deal...there are so many bigger fish to fry within a marriage that what you call each other (unless it's an obviously mean, derogatory, hurtful name) doesn't seem to merit a lot of attention.

If it really bothers you a lot, you should mention it to your husband. People in a marriage should be able to talk about the things that bother them.

And don't take the passive-aggressive approach by starting to refer to him as "the husband" because he just won't get it. As a matter of fact, he'll probably think it's cute.

It's just the way some kinds of people say it. I think of it as a middle-aged urban thing. I know some older women who never say their husband's name. They say He's coming home late tonite or I have to go fix His lunch. Hippie dudes & bikers used to call their girlfriend My Old Lady.
If he smiles when he sees you, and tells his friends you're a good mother, don't worry so much about the verbiage.

To be honest it wouldn't bother me. The only reason being, because I have two sisters and the three of us are always referred to as 'the girls'. So i'm used to it. Otherwise i'd probably not like being referred to as 'the wife'.

Yes being called 'the' is referring to a thing/object rather then the person. So it would be better worded 'my wife' because it sounds more emotive

I sometimes wonder this when I hear people saying "the wife." I guess it's not the most complementary thing to call a female SO.

I don't think it's disrespectful, but then again my boyfriend ( I know there is a difference ) and I have a very relaxed relationship. I say you ask yourself if it bothers you, not asking others if it should or not. Because truth be told, it doesn't matter what any of us say. If it bothers you, then it bothers you, and you should ask him to stop or confront him about it. Do it now before you just explode on him one day about it, and he has no idea it bothered you to begin with.
