Do you feel like political correctness has gotten to a slightly absurd point (example - Halle Berry freaking out about joking that the edited photo with her having a big nose looks like her Jewish cousin or J.K. Rowling declaring that Dumbledore is gay out of nowhere) or do you feel like it is entirely appropriate and necessary in today's society?

I feel like to earn their candy bar, the kids have to work for it. Their costumes must show a certain level of effort and creativity. How can I give candy to the kids who actually tried to look original and turn down the kids with generic costumes without seeming impolite? Thanks.

I was at McDonald's with some people from church, and the guy across from me asked if anyone had money so he could buy a cheeseburger. Then someone else asked me if I had money to give him, and it kind of rested there so he started staring at me and wouldn't stop. I was still eating. Okay first of all, he already ate some fries, second of all I don't have a lot of money to dish out and he's not even my close friend, and thirdly I don't even believe in eating their cheeseburgers so why would I pay for someone else to have one?! Then I felt sorry for him and I said I'll give you money, but only for a salad, and he bought a salad AND a burger, AND kept the change! I didn't even know what to say. I did ask for my change back. How would you have handled this situation?

Earlier, my neighbor and i were downstairs and while we were talking and her brother came outside and somehow we started flirting, she was trying to talk to me and we kept interrupting her going back in forth with witty banter.

It's was really quite funny, but she didn't get half of what we were saying so she just kind of looked on. She asked me to come over tomorrow morning and her brother let me know that he'd be there (in his morning best ;).

I just wanna know if that was mean and how to include her.

I know there are other questions similar to this one, but I just want to know if the majority of people consider "ladies first" sexist or not (not chivalry in general).

I was talking to my friend about a videogame (of all things) and I told her I was waiting for my girlfriend to beat the game before I beat it (which I am). She responded with "why," I said "ladies first," and she said "that's sexist." She later added that it was stupid. She doesn't really ever seem a feminist, though she's bi/lesbian undecided.

I know my girlfriend enjoys my romanticism and gentlemanesque ways, but would all women?

I like to sit in a nearby park and eat, or simply walk on the sidewalk and eat. People will invariably walk up and stare, like they've never seen a person eat! What's wrong with people?

At work, I easily get affected by people who snaps at me. I easily detest people who are ready to degrade me. No matter how hard I try, I couldn't keep myself from being influenced by them. So what happens? I end up thinking too much and escalating situations that are typically not a big deal. How do you avoid that?

Honestly I don't know where to begin. I work at a college and the young girls pee all over the seats and leave it. Why not lift the seat up then? Imagine if I did that at your mother's house! It''s rude.

When I talk to people in informal conversation, I'll ALWAYS refer back to what someone says about a topic or a previous conversation...

"So-in-so said that...."
"When I talked to so-in-so they said that..."
"You'll never believe what so-in-so said about..."

I wonder if people believe I can't keep a secret. Or, I can't think of something intelligent on my own and have to quote what someone else says. My intent isn't to gossip, but just to attribute someone's words or actions.

Is this bad? Should I stop doing this to ensure that I can keep information inside of me?

Thanks for your advice. :-)

hi everyone .
my problem is my boyfriend and i are having some money issue. we are moving on the 1st of nov. plus have a toddler .
for christmas we both have alot of familey but not enough money to spend on everyone.
so i was thinking of having picture done of our son and putting them into nice but low price frames and giving them to our family.
bigger pictures to the grandparents then a smaller size to our siblings then like our aunts uncles and/ or cousins wallet sizes.
then for nices and nephew giving like 5 in a card.
but in return asking our famileys not to give us anything and to focus instead on our son. is it rude to do this
i just feel bad reciving a gift when we can't aford to give alot ths year.
so i was wonder if anyone has any good ideas that might go nice with the picture or any other present ideas.
thanks

half of the guests don't like the other half of the guests? It's really crazy when the bride-to-be requested me & another friend to host her bridal shower. We are NOT even on the bridal entourage. But we used to work together. The guests, well, some of them are just soooo conservative. We would like to have a stripper but we are thinking about these other people. The bride-to-be don't care what we do. She is so busy with many out of town guests that she said she's welcome anything to be away from her family even for just a day. Any great suggestions?
We're also planning to do a potluck - is that ok? How do we assign food to everyone? HELP!
