I frequent various coffee shops in my area and will use their hot spots to do remote work. I always buy a cup of coffee and sit down, but how long is too long to take up a seat? I don't want to seem like I am loitering!

without offending them (at least not coming across as that way)? He is very obese and doesn't bathe regularly. I know it's probably difficult for him to bathe properly due to his size and he is a bit slow. Other people call him names behind his back and even those who are kind to him don't want him in their car and such due to the odor. I think if he cleaned up the kind ones would bother with him more.

So, I'm not complaining. I know it's just habit/custom for people to say that, and there are plenty of situations where I respond to things with "I"m sorry." too.
But my mom died not too long ago, and that seems to be the one thing people say that absolutely drives me insane...along with "Are you okay?" but that's another story.
I just never know how I'm supposed to respond.
I usually just say "Thank you" and give an awkward half smile or "Thanks, I appreciate it."
But is that an inappropriate response?
I know a lot of people respond with "It's okay"...but that would be lying, and I don't really feel like that's an appropriate way for me to respond to such a thing either.
And it just seems to get so old. I've heard that phrase more times in the past 2 months than I have in the 18 years I've been on this earth. I mean how else do you respond to that?

When I was in foster care, I was 15 yrs. old, & one of my former foster cousins jerked a book out of my hand that I was reading, & she said, "You have NO business reading an Honors Senior in college's book! This is NOT a toy!" I thought it was my foster aunt's Psychology book. I didn't know it was hers, & if she didn't want me reading it, then why did she have it just lying around?

There was this lady that was very special to me in my life, like a grandma that is. She is now deceased. She always gave me cash gifts in cards for Christamas, birthdays. She even left me an inheritance. The problem is that I still have some of the gifts she gave me from this last two years. I kept them as souvenirs in their cards becuase I feel that I will never receive these types of gifts from anyone again. Do you think I should just let go and put them into a savings account?

My best friend's little 6-year old girl has nice long hair, and it used to be very shiny and pretty. Well, lately, it is just dead. It has no shine, like most little children's hair her age. I know her hair could be so much prettier. But my friend brags about using $2.00 shampoo. I suspect that this is the problem! I know that she can afford to get at least a $6 or $7 shampoo, that would be so much better.
But how do I tell her? I can't just say, "Hey, your girl's hair looks awful! Switch shampoos for crying out loud!"

How can I casually bring it up without hurting her feelings?

My neighbors' husband passed away 2 nights ago. We weren't friends, but we would speak occasionally. Should I send something or say something. Very sad. He was only 55.

Like i go and price check items on websites, and on Wal-Mart's website it'll say something is like lets say 15.98 but go into walmart itself, and its like 19.96. Whats the deal with the price difference(this is on a movie that came out this week).

Same thing happend when i was price checking for House's 3rd season. Online it said it was a cheaper price than in the store itself.

People tell me that forgiveness is for you, not quite mean't for the person who hurt you. I have tried to forgive someone who hurt me terribly, but I still don't feel at peace. How is it supposed to help us move on?

So my best friend is getting on my Mom and I's nerves.

My friend and I are both on soccer and hockey (not sure if she's joining hockey this year though). We give her rides to EVERY game since her mom doesn't have a car.
Her and I are also in the school band. So hockey + band = 4 rides a week (during school yr)
Over the summer, whenever she talked to me she was only wondering about rides.

The point is, she lives out of the way of everything we go to, and she barely just 'hangs out' with me. She phones me, asks how things are going, but ALWAYS asks, about halfway through, if she can get a ride to some function or other.

She's polite and thanks my Mom for the rides, but she's out of the way and only talks to me when she wants a ride.

How would I go about "politely" telling her no, we can't give her rides all the time, do you think this is a taxi service?
:P I'm angry at her right now so sorry if this seems rude/petty. But we give her a ride at least 3 times a week during the school yr

I co-worker is turning 30 and is having a party at her house. She is throwing the party 2 weeks ahead because she will be out of the country on her birthday. My question is...
Do I buy her a gift and bring it to her party? I was thinking maybe a $50 gift card to Target, is that good enough?
