Yes I do. It drives me nuts. Especially when the parent doesn't pick the baby up to see what's wrong or to comfort the baby.

First, a baby is not an it. An "it" is an inanimate object. A baby is a human being. (I had to reprimand my younger sister-in-law of this several times when she tried to call my baby an it early in my pregnancy.)

As has been stated, crying is the only way an infant can communicate. Even though a parent may know his child well, it's not always easy to figure out what s/he wants. It's not always easy for the parent(s) to immediately console the child either.

I feel bad for the parents if the child is crying just to get attention. The parents may not be eager to console the child, as they are concerned that if they make a habit of indulging the child, the child will get used to it, cry more and they might spoil him. (The tentative plan for after my husband's and my baby is born is for one of us to go to the grocery store alone while the other one is home with the baby or go together, so if the baby is crying, I can care for her while my husband continues to shop.)

However, it bothers me when the child looks as though he should be old enough to behave but is not reprimanded.

Screaming babies that are igored, yes. Babies cry for a reason, and it is the parents job to figure that out and help the kid. As a parent of two, I know it is not easy to figure it out sometimes when everyone is staring at you, but show the kid some love and the child will be better for it.

I can't stand the kid that runs around and the parent laughs as they run roughshot over the store. Control your child, jeez.

Babies cry...that's a fact.

What annoys me is when the parent doesn't take the action necessary to remove the child to a private place away from the public until the little one calms down.

These things happen, you cant expect the parents to stay locked up in their house until the kid is a 5 year old, some things you can do very little for, like colic or teething, babies cant talk, they have to cry.

And you were never a baby once in your life?

Better a screaming baby than a bunch of screaming drunks! I live in a college town so I get to hear all the frat rats and sorority snobs every weekend getting drunk on their butts and then screaming and fighting :(

I have the Edward Gorey view on children and babies.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we were all babies once, but it DOES NOT LAST. The noise makes me want to put it out of its...ITS....see I said ITS....misery. I can't stand the screaming meatloaf.

No, we were all babies once. But I do hate when the parents don't do anything to attempt to console the baby.

It can be frustrating especially when the kid is just crying to gets its own way.
I feel sorry for the parents in some cases.
Makes me glad my family is grown up

Yes, I do hate it. That's why I'll never have kids. The sound of a child whining or crying is like fingers on a chalkboard to me. Sure, the baby could be uncomfortable, but it's the parents job to attempt to help it, or take it outside, or to the bathroom. Why subject the rest of us to that horrid racket??!! Oh, and loud-*** babies or kids in the movie theater are the WORST!
