I have always heard leaving the toilet lid(where you sit) on is the correct way, but people sometimes tell me, that closing it or lifting it, leaving it completely bare is the correct way. Well what is it?

ok so there is this girl named monica who has me and my friend megan's lunch, and a few weeks ago monica called both of us "gothic freaks" we really didn't care and then laughed it off but the next day her and her little friends we're looking at megan and making fat jokes about her, i told her to stop and she said no. and then she did afterall stop; then all of the sudden i here being shouted "megan is a c***" so i turned around and pulled her off the table and clocked her in the mouth and the eye, i broke her nose, and i am currently suspended, as is she, did i do the right thing sticking up for my friend like that???

and i'm not going to apologize for what i did because in my view and pretty much every one at the school besides her friends she got what she deserved

To me, at work, you don't interupt someone unless there's an emergency or you have information pertaining to their call. I've told him nicely, I've sent an e-mail. He keeps doing it. He even talks loudly into my phone while I'm talking to a customer! He's not a kid, he's like in his 50's. I'm at a loss. What do I do?

My Great-Grandmother passed away Saturday and the funeral is Wednesday & Thursday and I was just curious why is it proper to wear black to a funeral? I know it has to do with mourning and such, but black can be such a depressing color, you would think it would make the matter worse!

I was just curious on your opinions !

My husband and I work at the same place. He recently got moved to a different shift. Since then, people see me driving myself in and feel that they can ask me for a ride (or hint at it). I have made excuses to people, such as my male boss, as to why I can't give him a ride because I'm afraid of what people will think. If people see me not riding in with my husband anymore and then see me leaving with some guy in my car everyday, they're going to talk. They will all assume that I'm either cheating on my husband or have left him for someone else. I've talked to my husband about it and he doesn't know what to do. He trusts me enough to allow it but he doesn't want rumors going around either. My concern is that these rumors always escalate into something way bigger than they are. As they go from person to person, they get worse and worse until it turns into an outright lie. I don't want my husband to hear some lie like that and have it hurt our marriage. Do I keep telling people no rides?

O.K.....so, someone didn't like an answer of mine a few days ago, and e-mailed me a nasty little note. Basically, saying my point was wrong and hers is right. Well, this is yahoo, and if you ask a question, aren't I allowed to speak what I think like everyone else does? It's been bugging me. Should I politely e-mail her back, or just forget it? Because I really don't think she would be convinced with anything I have to say anyway. But, it just bugs me that she was so nasty! I'm thinking to forget it, but.......? Has this ever happened to you?

I just answered a question I feel I need to clarify. Many waiters and waitresses complain that black people are cheap tippers. I'm sure that's not true of all, but I've heard it too often to suspect there's an element of truth to it. But to what extent is it self-fulfilling prophecy? The waiter expects a lousy tip, so he gives half-hearted service. The customer feels he's being a racist, and leaves a very small tip, or even none at all. Are there black people willing to answer this one?

Sorry this is my first job, I am a dishwasher at a restaurant. I'm legally entitled to a half hour every five hours...so yesterday I worked eight hours straight...is he supposed to tell me to take a break, or do I just get up and go...if I go on a break for half an hour the backlog would be horrendous.

Are there any? I went to a restaurant of Italian culture and amongst their many beautiful pictures they have several pictures of dead people that seem to have been victims of mob hits. I don't see this as culture but murder. I think of children that may dine there and see this or someone who may be very upset by such an image. What is the best way to go about having the restaurant remove the images. Is there any rules against this? Especially since they do not have a parental advisory ?

We had a party of seven and the automatically added gratuity was set at 20%. The service was fantastic, but it was already at 20% so we didn't add anything. Normally the restaurant's auto gratuity is 15-18% in which case we would have added a little. Just curious about the viewpoint of those working in the service industry.
