I made a grievance against one of the nurses at my clinic, & the guy who everyone makes complaints to asked me, "What do you want me to do to her, fire her?" Just because I make a complaint against her doesn't mean I want her fired.

I swear, these days it's like we HAVE to tip, NO MATTER WHAT.

If we don't tip, then we're HORRIBLE MONSTERS.

We also have to tip EVERYBODY, not just waitresses.

These people do make a wage, you know.

Not only that, but people that work in other professions making a similar wage don't demand 20% for their services.

I know this 14-year-old boy and he is mentally challenged (mild). I'm over his house and he pats me on the head like you would to a toddler or a dog and says hi.

His mother wasn't turned towards us and it wasn't until she turned around to notice what he did, and scolded him for patting my head. Should I have told him not to do it before she did or did I do the right thing by letting his mother tell him not to.

I don't really know them well, I only see them a couple times a year at those really big family events and stuff.

When getting introduced, or maybe in the course of conversation with someone I know for example, if I learn that they know "Smith" who I also know, if it appropriate for me to ask "So, how do you know Smith?"

A coworker and her sister are both pregnant (one with a girl and one with a boy), and their mom is throwing a joint baby shower. I have never met the sister, but have known my coworker for about 3 years. Does ettiquette say I have to get her sister a gift?

To complicate the question, three other coworkers have been invited to the shower. Two of the coworkers DO know the sister and will be getting her a gift.

Should the coworker who doesn't know the sister and I get a small gift together just for the sake of manners, and a more appropriate gift for the sister we work with? Or is it acceptable to only get a gift for the person I know?

Thanks!

I've already ordered my school textbook on online, but it hasn't been arrived, yet.

But, I need it to do homework..
I am trying to go to Barns&nobles bookstore where is located near LA on these weekends..

There are some chairs and desks at the bookstore..
is it okay to use the textbook and study for 2-3 hrs without buying? Does employee complain it if I do it?

I'm a teenager, so as a result I'm expected to spend a lot of time commenting people's photos on facebook and myspace. I'm habitually grammatically correct when I leave these comments, as opposed to typing without using caps, or shortening the word "you" to the letter "u". It's been worrying me lately that I seem pretentious when I do this, and that's the last kind of impression I want to give off. Can you tell me your opinion? Thank you so much, 'cause it's REALLY bugging me.

Like when you go out for dinners, bars, etc, do you pay for your friend if they are poor? Or do you feel that you are not responsible for them? I am tired of feeling obligated to pay for my friend's dinners and stuff. I don't feel that I have to. Once in awhile is okay, but if I do it too often then my friend might expect it every time!

Is a bride obligated to invite her bridesmaid's date to the dinner rather than just the reception. If they are engaged or married, we realize the partners should get an invite to the whole thing. But a few of the bridesmaids don't even have boyfriends or are just starting to date someone. We are willling to have them come to the reception, but is it necessary to invite them to the dinner? We are trying to cut costs and can't invite everyone. It's going to be awkward when aunts and uncles see that their children are not invted with dates, and complete strangers are at the dinner....What's the proper protocol.

stopped to thank a Veteran.
Please take time if you see one out, walk up and shake their hand and say thanks. At least they know people still care, and remember what they did. Take a little time and talk to our vets, it is amazing the stories they can tell. Ones that you may never read in a book or see in a movie. But get it from someone who was their, and pass that down to your kids.

My math teacher today was handing out interims and she said that it was a hard first five weeks. Then she said that one parent had come in early one morning to ask if "their darling little child" could be moved to advanced math. she said that she said "well she wasn't recommended".

I knew that she was talking about me and I am slightly disgusted with her choice of words. Darling little child? Really! and she said that in a sort of annoying tone, and that just made me feel a little angry and I KNOW that I was recommended for advanced math for this year, and i especially hate it how she said it in front of the entire class.

do you think that she was rude or i am just sensitive?

There had been several customers before me and their hair was still on the floor around the chair. I had to walk over a lot of hair to sit in the seat. When I asked, the person did sweep the floor but then I felt guilty. Is this a common thing that hairdressers don't clean the floors after customers today?

I have noticed alot that the answers that are given by people are either beyond rude....severly judgmental....obviously that the person answering has no clue what the person was trying to ask....and last but not least... gives an answer that has absolutly nothing to do with the question at hand.

Shouldn't we all read the questions compleatly and then answers only after fully understanding what it is truely is that the writer is trying to ask?

I work in a bakery at shoprite and you can't sit down at all. the job is so demanding and it seems like I'm doing all the work. I only get like 1 break in a 9 hour day and I have to stand and lift heavy stuff for 8 - 8 1/2 hours on average a day. the job is just too stresfull and my other part time co-worker calls out sick once a week usually or shows up late and places all his hours/responsibilities on me.

and the store manager says I should be on medication to calm me down...she is an idiot but I don't take offense to that, I try to find humor in all of things.

Ok. Im not crazy. Maybe Im seeing things. But almost everyday when I wake up I see a different person. A long time ago I saw a tall bald man staring at me and smiling from the other side of the room. I thought it was a ghost. Now I see a person every morning. Almost. For example, my curtain has flowers, one day in the flowers I saw a picture of a man form and he was looking at me. I see different people all over my room on different days. Today when I woke up I saw a chubby short man sitting on my chair across the room. He had straps around him like someone tied him up. He was looking up and like trying to mov and stuff. As soon as I saw it I got scared and it disappeared. I woke up and quickly ran out of the room. But I see different people almost every morning. Im sure its just my head, but is there a name for it?

I shopped every week last 10 yrs at a local supermarket spending about $200 a week. Its a filthy store, the people who work there are nosey. Also one time I only spent $50, the manager ran over and said "fill up your cart, spend more money".. The deleivery guy was always complaining about carrying my stuff..My friend told me about an online supermarket here in NYC called Fresh Direct. You order online, they deleiver to your door. I used them and they were great and the food was very clean and fresh unlike this supermarket delevery guys are very happy and nice to bring my packages.
I pass by the old supermarket to get home, past few months the manager just stares at me, giving a nasty look, not saying anything. recently ..manager ran over to me and said "have you been on vacation"? I said "no I use fresh direct now, the online supermarket, its great". His mouth dropped, starred at me, saying nothing and i walked away. He continues to stare at me.
How do I deal with this Person?

I was invited by a girlfriend to attend an event put on by a car dealer. There was no cost for either of us, but there was free cocktails and hors d'oevres. There was a drawing with lots of door prizes. I won 2 tickets to a racing event (3 day pass). I was going to take my boyfriend day 1, and my kids (and buy a third ticket for my daughter) on day 3, and asked my girlfriend if she wanted to come with us on day 3. My girlfriend asked what I would do Saturday, and I had something else to do, so she said "the tickets are mine on Saturday". I agreed, since I wasn't going to use them.

This morning, she called up and told me that since I was only there because she invited me, that I should have given her the tickets. I wouldn't have attended the race without winning the tickets, and I still had to buy one more, but she thought I should have offered for the 2 of us to go. Should I have given them to her?

Job interview dress etiquette?
I am going for a job interview with a bank. While I have formal interviews during the day, I will be meeting the head of HR for drinks at a bar the previous evening. What dress is appropriate for the evening drinks? The head of HR is a lady, and I am a man. I am reaching the venue by flight that same evening.
