It sounds like he decided that he wasn't having a good time. At the worst, he might have realised he "wasn't going to get any" and that was all he wanted. It's true that he may have thought a model wouldn't want to eat very much, but she agreed to go to DINNER, didn't she? So he'd be making some silly assumptions. Either way, this is no gentleman, and if it happened to me, I'd avoid him in the future. I wouldn't, however, make the moment more uncomfortable by kicking up a fuss at the time.

Incidentally, if it's true that he just couldn't afford a true meal, he should have chosen a more reasonably priced establishment. I'd still avoid him in future- not for having little money, but for having little foresight.

Maybe he wasn't having a good time and decided to cut his losses before he spent more money on a "lost cause". I'm not saying your friend is a lost cause but that he didn't feel they were compatible.

If he was a gentleman, he would have seen the date thru to the end. Then they could decide if this first date was also the last one.

Maybe he assumed that a model wouldn't want a full dinner?

But, seriously, if for some reason she decides to go out with him again, she should inform him of her menu choices before the waiter arrives, and if necessary, remind him again when he orders. (And bring "mad money".)

Well, what can you do? I suppose that he is saying that the date is over (unless he is moving from the bar to a table in the restaurant).

Well, since she is a model, he might have thought she was on diet so better not to tempt her with delicious dinner :)). LOL.

Maybe he wanted to take you out, but didn't have much money. Just wanted to give you a little treat, not eveyone is loaded.

It sounds like he wasn't having a good time and just didn't have the balls to tell her that he wasn't having a good time!! Either that, or he's a cheapskate!
