Yes! I do it out of respect, but it does make me feel a little 'incomplete'....

Yes it does. Now, I understand the: Is their house is their, but it all comes down to being an understanding host. I personally will never force a guest to behave or do something that will make them feel uncomfortable. It comes down to dignity, and a lot of people should look the definition of the word in a dictionary. Carpets, floors and furniture are replaceable commodities. If you really care that much about your floors, you should not have people over, or host your party in the backyard. (I lived with a relative that was like that, so I know how uncomfortable and weird this is) Yes, Is not normal behavior!

Not at all. Think about the trouble they went through to host the party. I have no problem taking off my shoes, even though they are a very important part of the outfit, b/c someone else has gone through the trouble of hosting a party.

as a Brit now living in the USA, I can totally assure you that this is very much a USA thing.......remove your shoes at the doors......mind you this is almost the only country where VERY light coloured carpets are the norm........so I suppose the two go in hand......but personally would MUCH rather my guests come in sit down and kick back than wet my self over them removing their shoes........carpets and floors can be sorted out so fail to see the big issue here.

Besides with two teenagers and the dog regular cleaning is done, tile area mopped pretty much every day and the carpet area [soon to be bamboo] is vacuumed almost every day with any spots got at once.

regards, remember party with the Brits, far more relaxed lol lol lol

No. In many cultures it's impolite to wear shoes in the house.

Don't sweat this kind of petty stuff. You'll have plenty of chances to show off the entire ensemble - shoes included - at other events.

No, not really. I don't see why it should. People have the right to make the rules for their homes. If a guest doesn't like their rules, they are free to leave.

Yes! Guests should be made to feel comfortable. If a guest wants to keep their shoes on they should not be made to take them off.
