I have noticed alot that the answers that are given by people are either beyond rude....severly judgmental....obviously that the person answering has no clue what the person was trying to ask....and last but not least... gives an answer that has absolutly nothing to do with the question at hand.

Shouldn't we all read the questions compleatly and then answers only after fully understanding what it is truely is that the writer is trying to ask?

HEAR HEAR!! Please get all the info before you answer!! And these rude comments are just plain unnecessary!! I think it's just people wanting to answer every question for the 2 pts. C'mon folks!! Who cares about about pts.? Be more concerned with your percentage!! Find categories you know a lot about so you can advise and HELP people!! Lastly, there's no reason to be mean. The other day a girl was crying, because she got yelled at. Can't we all just get along on this great website??? Great question!! Definitely deserves a star! I wish everyone would read it! Thanks. :)

You're right! However, most people are in a rush or don't pay attention to detail. They see a few paragraphs and either skim them or ignore them altogether. As a writer, this is something I have to work around daily. Most people DON'T read a lot, and if you are writing a newspaper article or anything of the sort, you need to write in a pyramid (most important info first) because it is statistically proven that people read the begginning and skim or skip the rest.

So I dont think people are trying to be rude, but just don't want to read. I do think though that if you are going to answer a question, you should read it all and do your best to answer. Otherwise, what's the point? It's not like the points you get are worth anything.

I agree that it is extremely rude when people answer questions without fully reading and understanding what is being asked. However, I am certain that this unfortunate trend will continue as people seek to get more points on Yahoo Answers. Personally, it takes all of the fun out of it for me if I don't fully read, understand, and feel as though I am providing someone with a useful answer.

I loved how Melissa commented that you could write like a pyramid, and I'll bear that in mine when I write some of my own stuff, but I honestly think that a lot of people that use this website ARE rude.

They just lay into people with no just cause. I happen to respect most people that ask here, as they're genuine questions that want clarification.

I have enjoyed using this website, but I try only to answer as few as possible. There are some questions that could be answered very simply in Google or another search engine.

I have found this to be a persistent problem.
Unfortunately, there is not really a way to have this be open and public and still maintain a sense of kindness or thoughtfulness.
For many, the anonymity of the internet means they do things they would not ever try in real life.
(For petty fun, however, I suppose you could seek out their other answers and give them thumbs down!)

This happened to me yesterday! I asked a question and this guy responded without completely reading the question. He was totally out of line and completely insensitive, but he wasn't even addressing the issue.

It's incredibly frustrating when people do this. If you aren't going to take the time to read the question, don't answer it!

Not defending or excusing the sort of thing you describe, this is after all a public forum. Like any other bulletin board, silly witless posts and thoughtful, helpful ones are posted side by side. One skims and discards the useless, overlooks the insulting, and gives thanks if every now and then an answer realliy meets your needs.

Yes we should read the question fully, and if we do not understand then we should not answer. As askers we should try to limit the length of our questions as well. Only providing necessary details.

yes of course but remember this is also a game on top of it being a place to learn, so it is to have fun too.
just bear with those people and remember alot of them could have horrible existences and this is their only escape of that. it takes all kinds, so take it with a grain of salt, thats what i do.
good luck!
