I live in an apt cmplx and have for 4 years. a new tenant moved in under me and another tenant in the next building. I go to school and work part time, and I never hang out, so I almost never come outside except to get into my car to leave and take out my trash. but when i do c ppl i speak. One day after about 6 months after they moved in, I saw the new downstairs neighbor, and the new next building neighbor hanging out side. As I walked to my car, I spoke to them, and instead of them speaking back, they turned up their lip at me and rolled their eyes. I never spoke again. For months after that, I started noticing that they would stare at me, rolling their eyes. Then about 3 wks ago, I went to check my mailbx, and saw where the downstairs neighbor wrote on MY a/c unit "monica wuz here, and I hate bitc@#s" So Itold the landlord, and she did nothing. Y is this? I tried 2 be friendly. Is it bcuz i don't hang out and im working toward getting away from the envi. and they are not?

I say ban smoking in all PUBLIC places, not just enclosed ones!
If they want to smoke let them have certian places for it, away from everyone who doesn't want to smell/breath it.

What say you?

Whilst chatting up a guy at a club on Friday night, he asked me where I go to school. I told him that I had graduated this year from College. He looked at me (almost disdainfully) and said "that doesn't count. " and then snobbishly pointed out that he goes to University. I was shocked and offended. I thought perhaps he was joking, but to my horror he was serious. I called him a snob and a half and laughed in his face, stating that obviously he was too drunk to handle this conversation. However it still bothers me, why would he say that? What kind of person demeans another's scholastic achievement?

My landlord's kids STOMP all night long. Their dog barks for hours straight. A few nights ago I was awaken by their dog barking for 20 mins at 2:20am. I plan on leaving in September (so I can live out my July rent & my security) but I want to say something to them regarding the noise. I work 8am-4pm so I get to sleep around 10/11pm daily. Their kids of school for the summer and the stomping is becoming so unbearable that I want to start throwing stuff at my ceiling. In order for me to sleep and not hear their noise I have to put my AC, fan AND TV on. I am NOT a light sleeper but when the kids scream & stomp and then the dog joins in....I can't ignore it! How do I approach my landlord? They are a little older then me (late 20's - early 30's) and NOT "Parents of the year" (they let their kids play in the street and then gets mad if our company drives more then 2 miles an hour past them)...I don't want to start a hugh fight but either they are being rude on purpose or just STUPID

Just wondering why a student can not use this forum for research without getting the nasty "am I doing Your Homework line"????
Why even bother answering? You won't be there to do my exam so if I do not learn this stuff I am in trouble. But it is nice to have a place to come and ask for clarification without the accusatory remarks. Thanks for those of you that do just generally help which Thank God is the majority!

Just been to my local shop and bought some women's products (you see i'm doing it now) tampons! The woman in the shop asked me whether I wanted a bag. I said no thank you. But she insisted on putting them in a bag. I said I didn't need a bag. I live less then 2 mins down the street, I'll just carry them. And then I got a lecture on how to save my embarrassment I should take a bag?? To be embarrassed would mean that I may be ashamed and I'm not ashamed to be a woman so why the hassle of the bag??

Hi, I do security in a hotel. The front desk recently hired a very cute girl for the summer. Unfortunatley she has some problems with her BO, either its her feet or something. Not that it bothers me, since I dont have to work with her, but the other employees are complaining. What to do or say? I suggested this be a job for the manager of the hotel. I also offered to talk to her if the manager approves...If I get the task, do you have any suggestions on how to nicely inform her of her problem?

I have had recent re-constructive surgery and am delighted with the results. Is it acceptable to give a little gift, if so any suggestions? Or should I just stick with a 'thank you' card?

I know the heading is a little confusing, but here's the situation:
I have a lot of plants placed on the stairs of my apartment, and every afternoon, my very kind neighbor downstair would start watering the plants with a waterhose under the scorching sun. My past experience tells me it's best not to water the plants under very high temperature, so I usually do the watering early in the morning and late in the night. Just as I expected, the plants have started dying. I would really want to tell my sweet neighbor to stop watering my plants, but I think that'll hurt her feeling as a gardener. Could you guys give me some advice on how I should resolve this problem without seeming rude?

My friend recently got engaged. I heard it through a friend. I e-mailed my friend and told her I heard the good news. I told her congrats. She didn't responded back.

I was on AIM recently and saw that she was also on there. I IMed her and told her congrats again. I didn't make a big deal about it, b/c I knew she read my other e-mail. The e-mail receipt confirmed that it had been opened.

I then preceeded to ask her about how her new job and recent vacation were. She didn't say anything about the engaged to me. She knew I knew, but she never said "Thank You" for the e-mail or congrats message.

I'm a little put off? Was she wrong to act this way?

Help, my maid is acting passive aggressive, she won't look at me when I talk - she wouldn't even look at me when I asked her why she won't look at me and asked if she is angry about something or doesn't like working here. She was almost rude in her tone and said no, that's just her, keeping her back turned. I've asked her not to use toilet paper to clean the sink, and today I found little bits of toilet paper from her cleaning. I found out that she calls my friend for whom she works full-time "ma'am", yet she addresses me by my first name. I'm uncomfortable when people use my first name without asking my permission - I wouldn't do that at my job - but it's been going on a while and is hard to backtrack.

Let me just say that I am a decent person, respectful, clear in my requests and never abusive or nasty. On the whole, her work is OK but I feel uncomfortable having this hostility in my house and am at a loss as to how to address it. Please, only serious answers.

I'm invited to this BBQ on the 4th of July from my friend's friend. However, at this BBQ you have to bring your own food that you want cook on the grill along with your own side dishes and beverages. I already asked my friend if this is considered to be a Potluck BBQ thing. She said no. I never really got invited to a BBQ where you bring your own foods and beverages. I think this is a bit tacky. If you get invited somewhere the host or hostess should supply the food and beverages. Is this BBQ considered tacky?

i work at petco in beltsville md and yesterday my boss called me in and said that all of the MOD's felt that i was not working hard enough and that i am talking to much to the patron and that its getting anoying and that is why i have been only working 2 days a week. i told my boss thank you for telling me this i will work on being more productive and not talking so long to the patrons. but afterword when i was stocking the shelves i got to wondering why the MOD's did not come to me first and let me know befor my boss had to get involved . if they had taken me aside and let me know sooner < i went from 380 a paycheck to 277 a pay check and its been that way for a month> i would have changes and i would not have lost so much money andi would not be behind on stuff. so do i have a right to be pissed or should i just move on . i dont know what to do .
