Just wondering why a student can not use this forum for research without getting the nasty "am I doing Your Homework line"????
Why even bother answering? You won't be there to do my exam so if I do not learn this stuff I am in trouble. But it is nice to have a place to come and ask for clarification without the accusatory remarks. Thanks for those of you that do just generally help which Thank God is the majority!

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who just want a reason to give others a hard time. They also tend to say things like that when they don't know the answer and instead of looking or feeling stupid, they come back with a ridiculous comment like that instead of simply ignoring the question and not answering at all.

I think that using a forum like this is ideal, as long as you understand the fact that, as you stated, you still have to take the exam, but a lot of the time, being able to see the problem worked out is enough to help you grasp the concept of HOW to solve it on your own. Not everyone learns things the same way and not all teachers are flexible enough to teach in a variety of ways, so asking for help is not a bad thing.

Well, there is the two points for an easy answer, & then, why do you ask others to do your homework??
It is *your* homework, getting others to answer it for you will not help you! You will be unable to formulate ways to come to a final solution. If you go to college, which it sounds like you may not, because you won't be able to cheat on the SATs by going onto yahoo answers...you will need to show your work, & show how you came to an answer. Since, 'going on yahoo answers' will not be an option, you will have low SATs & not go to college & get a factory job & not make much money & just not be the person you could be, if you weren't so lazy in the beginning. The computer can be a great learning tool, but your kind is turning into a way to get good grades that don't mean anything.
I won't let my son on here, so he learns how to do his own work, so I do practice what I preach...the only thing I pray is that he meets someone in college, someone who did the work, & made the grade to make his partner in life instead of someone who thought they were smart, using yahoo answers to get them thru school....

I do offer some information; however, providing complete and accurate answers to homework questions can be lengthy.

The art of research is valuable for homework and other reasons. The technology is available for quick and thorough research.

Perhaps this may be what bothers some people and they assume that the asker is lazy.

I don't answer the ones that I know are homework questions.

I just laugh when I google their question and come back with the answer in the first result.

It just shows that they lack the motivation to do their own homework and research.

When I realize these kids are going to be our leaders one day, I bang my head on the desk and laugh.

Its annoying when people post their entire homework on here. Asking a question about it when you couldnt find the answer in your books or online first, is annoying. It seems those kids come here first instead of actually looking for it.

I absolutely agree. One reason I'm on here right now is because people have helped me and I'm trying to give something back. I only hope I'm giving the right answers, but trust the group to sort of correct that.

maybe a rewording of the question would have helped. instead of saying...

'solve this problem'...

it could have been more like...

'this is my answer, can someone check it and tell me if I got it right?'...
