Whilst chatting up a guy at a club on Friday night, he asked me where I go to school. I told him that I had graduated this year from College. He looked at me (almost disdainfully) and said "that doesn't count. " and then snobbishly pointed out that he goes to University. I was shocked and offended. I thought perhaps he was joking, but to my horror he was serious. I called him a snob and a half and laughed in his face, stating that obviously he was too drunk to handle this conversation. However it still bothers me, why would he say that? What kind of person demeans another's scholastic achievement?

A self-satisfied, ignorant, head up his own bum, that's who.
I remember reading a sneering comment from a member of the aristocracy about someone's breeding. This is the same man who was notorious for his drug dealings, his matrimonial problems and his own jail sentence for stealing someone's cheques.
The world is full of morons - don't let his ignorance steal from your achievements. Some people are born with more brains and wealth. Doesn't make them worthy people, does it?

Don't even let it bother you, it's not worth it. He's obviously very insecure and feels the need to put others down in order to feel superior. I've found there are many people like him, sadly.

Don't bother about that guy! He just wanted to feel superior in whatever way. He probably also drives a really fancy and expensive car and we all don't wanna know what he is compensating for!

Sad little creature isn't he. Good for you for your response to the pig.

Don't let it bother you. Many people went to college vs university. His attitude obviously has not been improved by attending uni. He is trying to make himself feel above others.

Some people are hopelessly stupid regardless of what school they attended.

It's the same thing as demeaning anyone else for superficial differences. He's extremely insecure about his worth, so he puts down other people.

I'd tell you but having a PhD I feel you wouldn't understand!

Don't worry you didn't lose a thing when you lost him. People like that need a foot shoved in their backside so they can't talk.

A man who's supposedly educated would realise he used the word "school" and not "university".

Your answer was correct and his question was wrong.

Is THAT what you learn in uni-ver-si-teee these days?

A stupid, drunk, offensive person does that... take it from the source it came from... don't let it bother you.
