The fact that the money might be lost by someone or a business that could end up bankrupt without it would compell me to return it.
One weekend the business deposit slot at the bank in our small town was full to overflowing and interestingly enough, none was missing on the Monday.....

Wow... somebody has to be pretty stupid to drive around with that much money, let alone drop it off at a drive-up depository instead of actually going inside to deposit it or whatever. I've never been in the situation so I'm not sure what I would do, I would like to think I have the conscience to just bring it back to the bank, but on the other hand I could blow off all the money on some great stuff so I donno.

I would like to say that I would.

I definitely would not have taken all of the money, because you can't hide or explain away all that sudden money, and the taxes could be a problem too.

But I would not definitely say that, were I in that woman's situation, I would not have taken a hundred or so. Makeup artists and deli clerks don't make that much money, and if she has two jobs then I assume that she is on hard times... and it would certainly be tempting to use the money to improve my finances.

So I am not going to pretend that I am super-human: I cannot say that I would be this honest. She definitely deserves kudos.

Yes, I would be...I may, just for a little split second, stop...but I would continue on to the bank and turn in the money. I like to think someone else would be that honest should I lose something valuable.

Yes I would be that honest, I wouldnt want someone to think I was capable of stealing..that's a serious thing with that much money and a lot of trouble, it isn't worth it!

Yes I would. Temptation would be there, but once I thought it over, I would turn it in. The money is not mine and I would feel so guilty, I would not be able to spend it in good conscious.

Mt first instinct is "no"-I figure anyone that careless with money won't miss it much anyway.
But I'm afraid my conscience would start to bother me and I'd end up turning it in anyhow.
Sigh...

no. I would take the money and spend it on drugs. If I later found out that those were somebody's life saving, than that would just make the whole situation funnier

Yes, I would. My conscience has total control over me .. and it would eat away at me till the day I died, if I were to keep something that doesn't belong to me. :)
