It is a long shot maybe but I was just curious, I was looking at a couple of online books that you can dowload from $7-$20. These claim to give you tips to potty train in 3 days. One is www.3daypottytraining.com

I am not sure if I am going to try any of these that is why I was just trying to see if anyone out there has and if it helped or worked. I am of course skeptical.

My daughter is 3.5 so I am getting a little desperate. I am not pushing her, nor am I freaking out, I do try to keep consistent with her. I don't even know if she is fully ready, she peed on the potty one time. I read somewhere she should stay dry for 2 hours is one of the signs and she does not do that.
I am just confused.

My baby nephew a little over a year old, but he very seldom talks, and prefers to be alone most of the time. His reactions aren't the same as most children, but he is a genuinely beautiful baby boy. I do notice he is into detail when arranging toy blocks and stuff. He also seems to be very gifted with memory. I think he could possibly be savant, but how do I confront my sister on this without hurting her feelings? I feel that he at least deserves an early diagnosis, to get started on some form of therapy already. Somebody please offer advice on how I can approach this sensitive subject with her?

I live in Arizona, want to open a home based day care. Where do I start? What are the laws, what kinds of things do i need to know? I'm also thinking about leasing property to accomodate more children. Any guidance would probably be more than I have now.

If so, would you enroll your 4-6 year old into a pre-k program (2-3 hours a day) that focuses on literacy, math and classroom procedures. (the skills on the entrance exam)

Please, I want to know what you would do...not what I should do. It isn't about me personally.

My daughter just turned a year and she is both breastfed and bottle fed. I want to start weaning her from the bottle, then eventually from the breast. The problem is that my daughter is very strong willed. She has always been a horrible sleeper and the only way we can get her to sleep is by nursing or with a bottle. People told me just to let her cry it, so I did and she would cry for three hours at a time. I tried this for two weeks before I gave up. If you are a mother of a child like mine you know first hand how hard any type of change can be. I would like some help making this transition as little stressful (for us both) as possible. I know there will be tears, but I can't do three hours of crying anymore.

Hi,

as I say in the title, my one and a half year old daughter is still not walking!

Her big sis (now 6) walked before her 1st birthday, her brother (now 10) walked just after his 1st birthday, she however is not at all interested!

She had a walker but tried jumping out of it - aieeee!! LOL She has a pushing toy, we enchurage her to walk with this as it will support her, but no - uh-uh!

I have a niggle at the back of my mind. Do you think I'm being daft?

My son goes outside with me in his underwear sometimes while I am watering the flowers or he wants to jump in the pool for a quick swim. I see nothing wrong with this. But his dad who came to pick him up had a fit. He wouldn't explain why he was mad about it. So, I am just wondering what the community thought. Thanks

My question is exactly as you see it above! My two year old managed to find a ball point pen from somewhere (still no clue, or where he's hidden it now!) and while I was cleaning up the house proceeded to write on our tv monitor with it before I caught him! Please help me figure out how to get it off before his dad gets home; Steve is very overprotective of his electronics! Thank you!

My son refused to wipe himself and he just turned four.. I'm trying to bribe him with incentives , it's not working very well. He makes me take his hand and land the way ,but will NOT try on his own! I'm embarrassed as school won't help him anymore and he comes home in soiled underwear everyday!

She always puts her hands down her pants and plays with herself, and what is worse, she grinds on things, like the arm chair of the couch and the edge of the toilet. i find that i cant lay on the floor with her anymore, because she will jump on me and start grinding on my legs or tummy! i was not worried about it, but she wont stop it! when i ask her what she is doing she just says 'no', and she is not in contact with any other non family members, like babysitters or anything so i am pretty sure this is not coming from someone else. so what the hell? Anyone gone through this?

My kid's preschool has a bathroom for use by 3 & 4 yr olds (both boys & girls). It is between the 3yr olds and 4 yr olds rooms, has 2 low sit-down potty's and a low sink, everything just the right height.

On the doors leadign to the bathroom, there is a paper with this sign in bold "Your mother doesn't work here, clean up your mess". The kids can see this from their tables and sit-down-rug area.

I feel this is a funny & effective sign in grown-up places like offices, but out-of-place here. My kid asked me ?s like do only mothers clean up. And told his playdate-friend, your mother doesn't live here, pick up your toys!!"

I'd like to request them to replace it with some more kid-friendly sign like a cartoon character or a "clean up" nursery rhyme etc. or some age-appropriate printout from the web.

My husband says, it is just a sign, leave it. I think it is OK for me to atleast mention it, and I could also take along couple of alternate signs ? Should I or just leave it?

My daughter is 3 and her dad has been in and out of her life since I got married in 2004. Natalie considers my husband her dad because we started dating when she was 2 mts old and got married when she was 7 mts old and he is the one that takes care of her and puts her to bed everynight. Well her dad only keeps her for about 24 hrs on his weekendsand he decided that he wanted her for the 42 days in the summer. My daughter has been there since May 19th. She came home this past weekend and cried the whole way back. It tears my heart out because she kept saying that we didn't love her and she wanted to stay with us and her brother. Her dad doesn't care. He said that she cries everyday and when we picked her up on friday, she indicated to a spot on her butt where she said that he hit her and she told her doll on the way
home, "stop crying! or I'll give you something to cry about." I'm really concerned. Is there anything I can do?

My little boy got into an ant bed yesterday. When i look at the welts on his feet and hands it looked to be only 20 or so bites. This morning when I looked at his feet there were around a 100 heads. I counted them. It looks pretty bad but he seems to be fine. No fever or acting oddly. He doesnt even seem to be bothered by them unless I mess with his feet. Should I worry about them or just keep an eye on them?

Hello there,

I have a bit of bad news. Enclosed with this letter is my two weeks notice to end childcare for Cy. I hate to do this to you (or any parent) and I really like Cy, I just don’t feel that I can give him the attention he needs and he may be more comfortable in a smaller daycare. As you know, right now with school being out I have got my kids (2) PLUS 6 other kids. It was suppose to only be 5 additional children but I allowed one more because she is older and assists me with projects and extra activities. So With Cy included, I have 8 kids each day so I have a hard time dealing with him when he needs something or at meal times.

On the notice, I have dated it from 2 weeks from today’s date but if you need more time, let me know and I can see what I can do. I do want to make sure you have enough time to find a daycare that you are satisfied with, I don’t want to rush you into settling for less… if that makes since! I do have a refferal for you (I used her myself)

I just had to ask. Today's episode is about a puppy who has to wee-wee, but he's stuck in the house and no one's home. This is the funniest thing I've ever seen. They're trying to find a way for him to go. Then they did their little jingle and named off like 5 different names for peeing.

I have a good friend who is a single father and has 2 yr old and 3 and a half yr old boys. He works nights so i babysit his kids for him from about 5:30pm and they go to bed around 8:30-9 and he comes and picks them up around 3am (these boys do not know their mother, she left them with their father at a young age).
My question is i know the father does the best he can and is tired throughout the day and probably does not think to take the time to potty train his 3 yr old, i am currently pregnant and can't handle changing a 3 yr olds diaper all the time. I am trying to work with this boy and i put underwear on him and he does really good with me, then when he spends the day with dad and comes back, he's messed up all over again and shows up in a diaper and i put him back in underwear and he ends up having several accidents.
I have expressed to his dad that he needs to keep up the training but it just does not happen.
Any advice on what i can do???
