My son was 2 when he started asking for my coffee and saying "Mmmm. I love hot coffee!" and he started riding a 2 wheeler without training wheels the month he turned 3. The first time he blew on a harmonica, he started stomping one foot just like a blue grass instrumentalist. Yesterday he dove into a pool head first for the first time. Unprompted. I didn't see it, but the lifeguard did. He has not been to any swim lessons. He is only 3 1/2! He seems so familiar with new things! I'd love to hear your stories!

He's almost 5. His Mother has raised him on Fried/Fast food. I rarely do fast food. If its not covered in batter and deep fried or in a TV tray. He won't eat it. I have tried everything. Stickers for finishing eating, toys for finishing eating. If he doesn't like something or doesn't want to eat it he sits at the table forever and plays with it or asks to go to the potty then goes somewhere else. I have let him get away with this, but then he comes back and asks for a PB & J sandwich. I am not making 4 different meals at my house for 4 different people. Help me figure out what to do to get him to eat.

My son is 27 months, about 37-38" tall and 40 pounds. I am finding it more and more difficult to get him in his car seat. I am looking for hands on experience with booster seats. What model do you have, why you like it or dont like it etc. Especially since most states are requiring booster seats until age 6 I want to make sure I make the right choice when investing in one of these.
Thanks!

I am at a loss! My daughter is 4 and we have been in the potty training stage for months! If she wears regular underwear she will use her potty for #1 but she will just go #2 in her pants. If we go to town she will not tell me she needs to use the restroom, she will just go to the bathroom where she stands. It seems like I have tried every trick in the book to get her trained and nothing seems to click! Now it's summer and she can't be in any of the programs because she still wets her pants! Please help

I am teaching VBS for 4 year-olds and we end up having a lot of time leftover. I have already played--
-Red Light, Green Light
-Simon Says
-the "Quiet Game"
-Duck, Duck Goose
and
-Freeze Dance
any other ideas (games or not) would be great. Keep in mind these need to be pretty simple. Thanks!

I am looking for a gift idea for my niece who lives in Oregon, which would cost under $50. I am a single male, so I am not the greatest at shopping for little girls. I love her dearly, but have 4 nephews and father's day to buy for this month also, so I am on a tight budget as far as gift shopping goes. Can someone help me with a creative, SAFE, and fun gift for a cute little girl turning one year old?

Should I now be looking for a preschool for my 10 month old baby. I live in San Francisco and wonder if there is a large waiting list. I plan to take him when he turns 3 years old.

My little girl is 2.5yrs old and very mild mannered.

She is polite and plesent with adults and other children and this seems to make her a target for bullies.

This weekend we went to a friends kids party and there was a older girl 4-5yrs bullying other kids (mainly the younger ones) most of them seemed to push her back but my daughter Lily wouldnt, she just let her hit her. I had to step in and shout at the older girI.

Ive always told her its naughty to hit, but now I think ive made a huge mistake and made her an easy target!

I spoke with my daughter on the way home, and told her if she was hurt or hit by someone then she was to hit back, and hit back hard.

She seems to understand me (she has very good communication skills) and when I told her dad she said she was gonna hit back if someone hit her.

My parents in law think this is wrong for me to say to her (by the way Im 28) but they think they know it all with raising kids.

AM I A BAD MUM ?

Ok, so my two year old ( 3 in July) was doing really well potty training, then she went over to her grand parents and was scolded by grandpa for peeing in her undies. (old fashion and dose not know better.)
It set something off because now she will not wear big girl undies and tells me she is a baby. We were doing really well and she was proud of herself, now it seems that she lost the interest. I have tried a few things like rewarding her and telling her that it is up to her but she is all set and makes me put a diaper on her and if I don't she will look at me and urinate on the floor. I have just reached a bump in the road and I was wondering if anyone has any advice?

My son is only 8 months old. I have started a book collection for him. We have board books, Disney, Dr. Seuss, etc. And we read to him. He seems interested in the books, although sometimes, he's just interested in eating the pages! LOL.

His father is a video game junkie, so that concerns me. I want to make sure he doesn't turn into a game junkie like his father. I want him to enjoy books, and doing outdoor activities and other things.

What types of stories have entertained young boys at various ages? I loved books when I was growing up, but I doubt he will like the same stories that his mom liked.

I posted a question about half an hour ago about what I should do with my 18month old, she has a high temperature. I gave her some calpol around the time I posted the last question and I have just re-taken her temp now and it has gone down to 102.2, it was higher. I keep sponging her down but she gets very aggitated when I do it leading to her crying an awful lot and so her temp goes up. She is wearing nothing but her nappy and a baby vest. She keeps drifting off to sleep and then waking up crying before falling asleep again. Her breathing is very fast as though it is a little difficult for her to breathe and she cant be bothered to do anything. She is drinking little fluids but I am managing to get some down her. She has just eaten a little bit of weetabix with water, not milk. I hope this clears a few things up about how I was treating her.

My son is 17months, I have just noticed he has a vertical line, but feels like a bump, which starts at the bridge of his nose and finishes where his soft spot at the top of his head would be. Should i be concerned? Or am i just being paranoid that it could be something really bad?
