I know for my son his sleep patterns revolve around the amount of light outside and since the days are longer right now I have been getting less sleep. I can't wait for the solstice.

Younger children are naturally early risers, so the best way to get her to sleep late is to put her to bed later. If your two year old sleeps twelve hours and you don't want her to wake up until 9 am, then 9pm would be an appropriate bedtime. A later nap would be necessary.

your 2 year old has probably got into the habit of waking up at 5:00 a.m. (or whatever time)
Try putting him to bed a bit later; keep his room dark (blinds drawn/dark curtains) so the sunlight does not peek through and wake him.
When he wakes up, change his diaper. When my son started waking up at 4:30 a.m. (too early for me-he was ready for a nap at 10:00 a.m.), I would change his diaper and lay him back into bed with me and he would fall back asleep in no time and would stay asleep for another hour or so. Sometimes, I wouldnt even fall back asleep, I just enjoyed cuddling with him. I would not recommend you putting your child into bed with you if you or your partner is a heavy sleeper or have taken any medication or used any alcohol.

I keep my children up later than most parents..My children a 1yr old and 3 yr. old sleep till about 9am... They take later naps usually around 2pm-5pm... It hasn't "harmed" them at all. However, I think I may start getting them on an earlier routine next year....

I guess that would depend on what time you put him to sleep?
My 2 & 4 year old go to bed at 8:30pm and wake up at 6:45am. Their naps are 1-2:30

Adjust your sleep schedule around him. As long as he is getting the recommended amount of sleep at night, be happy. He'll soon be sleeping later when he gets older. Don't throw off his schedule just so you can sleep in.

well it all depends on what time u put them to bed. if u where them out by finding things for them to do like run around in the park and play games and then feed them a nice hearty meal that might help.

Children need schedules - just because you want to sleep in does NOT mean the children must sleep in also. When the children are awake - YOU NEED TO BE AWAKE!!!!!!!!!
