I am looking for a gift idea for my niece who lives in Oregon, which would cost under $50. I am a single male, so I am not the greatest at shopping for little girls. I love her dearly, but have 4 nephews and father's day to buy for this month also, so I am on a tight budget as far as gift shopping goes. Can someone help me with a creative, SAFE, and fun gift for a cute little girl turning one year old?

this is what my niece likes.

Wide Tracker Activity Walker

This fun, mail carrier activity walker has a wide, easy grip handle and a stable base that make it easy for little ones to walk behind. Parents will also appreciate the soft textured wheels with speed adjustments to help prevent slips. The Wide Tracker Activity Walker is designed to grow along with kids - it folds so baby can play with it on the floor, then opens into a walker as they begin to toddle about. Its loaded with fun skill activities, too, including a spinner, a clicking caterpillar and butterfly, and a sliding bee. 3 letters drop into the mail slot or store behind the two flip down doors.

These are the birthday gifts my 1-yr old girl appreciated the most:
1. Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set from LeapFrog Interactive
2. Plastic bath books that she can chew on
3. Who Loves Baby? Photo Book by Sassy
4. Noah's Ark Little People by Fisher Price
5. Jeero Little Ugly Doll (She carries him everywhere)
6. Books, although she has chewed through the spine of some.
7. A bead maze (My daughter got one that is much smaller, I don't know where it was purchased though)

Cute outfits are always the best...go to a local Children's Place in your mall if you have one, they have the best clothes. I have a 1 year old and we love shoes and clothes. The best toy was from her dad and it's a little dog (from Target I think) that is a learning tool. It sings all kinds of songs, teaches her ears, hands, foot, says I love you and so much more and she just loves it...I can't remember what it's called but it should be easy to fine. Good luck.

You could try a nice fleece blanket with her name embroidered on it. It's a great gift, practical, and can stay as a memento years on down the road. Usually you can get the embroidery done for about $10-20

I have a little girl and on her first b-day she was into dolls my brother gave her a cabbage patch kid and a little purse and she LOVES it. You could do that. And if you want you can even find a cabbage patch kid with the same b-day as hers it says it right on the box when they were born on the birth certificate. Hope this helps

a one year old is hard to shop for- clothes if you know the size- girls always need clothes, toys- blocks or any learning time toy- why not get a savings bond? it may not be "fun" but she will probably get lots of toys and this is great for the future

My son got the Laugh and Learn chair from Fisher Price for his first birthday and he LOVED it. It's a fun "big" present from her Uncle.

It's about $32 on toysrus.com.

Dolls are always a safe bet. Also, little pastic dishes so they can play "picnic." I loved those things when I was little!
