Give her ibuprofen. That will bring the fever down and make her more comfortable until you can get to the doctor. Have her drink liquids also. Good luck, and I hope she feels better soon.

How high is her temperature? My pediatrician has always said that it doesn't matter how high it is, any fever at all can cause ferbile seziures, but how is the child acting? If she is resting comfortably and your treating her fever, then wait until the appointment. If she is screaming her head off and acts really out of it, then maybe you should take her into the er. You need to make that call. Ferbile seizures look really scary, but don't generally cause any harm. And keep in mind that any virus can cause a high fever. Like 103 or higher. It is just your little girls immune system doing as it should.

Take her to the hospital RIGHT NOW. That way, if she deteriorates between now and 4pm you can alert staff there and you're already in the right place for emergency action if that becomes necessary. Initially the busy harried staff may brush off your concerns and tell you you'll just have to wait, but speak up for your daughter - her life may depend on it. (May well not, but it might). The trick for getting action in these circumstances is to REMAIN OUTWARDLY CALM. Nothing is more likely to get a negative reaction than anger or even annoyance. Be quiet but firm. Ask to speak to whoever's in charge - agree to wait a few minutes if they're with another patient - and point out in exactly what way your child's condition has worsened (temperature risen further, getting delirious, or whatever). If the hospital staff haven't attended to your daughter by the time you need to leave for your doctor's appointment, then go. At least this way you will have been nearer to help if you'd needed it.

First, give her some children's tylenol to help with the fever, if you don't have that, you can use kid's ibuprofen. (If you haven't already)
Second, call the dr's office back and state that you are very concerned about your child's fever and need an appt sooner, if they give you the run around, go to the hospital if you feel she needs it. If she isn't eating, drinking enough fluids and sluggish, then I would take her in. And FIND A NEW DOCTOR! (easier said than done you may think...but... Find a "group" practice. They have a lot more appt's open than most other offices. ) Ask your daycare provider, if you have one, which dr's the other kid's use- they should know if they are a licensed provider. Ask someone what they think about their kid's dr's office and say you're looking for a new dr.
=) I know it's hard when yer lil ones are sick

It depends on how high her temperature is. If it's over 100, take her to ER. You can sponge her down with warm water, head to toe. That's what I was told to do to help bring the fever down when my kids were small. Don't strip them of all their clothes, take the top off first, sponge their chest, arms and back, then put the child's shirt back on. Do the legs and feet next and immediately dress. You can do this a few times. If the doctor says it's ok to give the child Tylenol, then do that also.
If you're really worried, just take her right in but usually that's a wait too.

Did you tell the doctor how high the temperature was?
I would imagine it would be okay to wait the three-and-a-half hours to see the doctor. If you are worried, though, call them and ask under what circumstances should you take her to the hospital or a walk-in clinic.
In the meantime, try getting her to drink cold clear fluids, alternate giving her baby tylenol and baby motrin, give her a lukewarm bath, apply a cold compress to her forehead (they have those gel patches now you can put on thier foreheads that have adhesive backings, so she doesn't have to actually sit still and have a rag on her head), and baby your baby.

How high is it and does she have any other symptoms? Did the doctor's office ask these same questions? At 18 months, they won't even say she has a fever unless it is over 101.5 - I went through that with my doctors office. If she doesn't have any symptoms other than the fever, they will just tell you it is probably a virus. You can alternate ibuprofin & tylenol every three hours to help keep her comfortable. If she does have other symptoms, I would take her to the hospital. Better safe than sorry and you will be able to take care of her better with your mind at ease.

Tylonol or Ibprofin asap, if it doesnt go down and stays above 103 take her to the ER asap,. if it gets above 103 at any point, I would rush, until then just try to keep her cool! Also if she becomes lathargic in any way or can't wake up well or no eyecontact dont hesitate! Check rectally, most accurate temps then! GOOD LUCK
